Threw away my original discs years ago, but in the mood to check out the games again.
Any plans to put these on Steam?

Unfortunately, that's a question for the publisher and owner of the rights. BioWare/EA is neither, so they have no say in how the BG games are released.

Unfortunately, Hasbro and Atari are currently caught in a legal battle regarding the D&D license, which means we're unlikely to see any additional release of the games until the situation is resolved.
I'd rather have them on GOG than Steam though. Always hated the idea of being dependant of some distant server to install and play single player games.

There was a poll about which game would you like to see on gog, and BG2 went quite high. Question is : Will it ever come to THE place?
