Hay all I was just wondering where do I have to take Sten to trigger these conversations?  I tried looking at the Wiki but I can't find the answer there.  Maybe I am just blind but I can't seem to find it there.  So yeah where do I need to bring him to trigger these and are any misable?  And by misable I mean having Sten there the first time I go there but it still might not trigger.  Thanks!

-eh- what?

You'll need to go camp to trigger the conversations with your companions (npcs). If you're talking about getting Sten's sword back, you'll need to get his approval rating high enough.

AFAIK go wherever any comment from an npc can be triggered. It's luck of the draw whether Sten talks and whether what he talks about is something you can follow up on in camp. Bridges and piers are good places to trigger comments, also Wade's shop and the Dalish camp just before exiting to the world map.

I believe it also depends on who else is in your party but I don't know who that needs to be.

There are four 'I want to talk about somethng you mentioned' dialogue trees that I am aware of. They all have about 3 conversations to them, which vary in length. Some are triggered by area-comments upon entering a new area (which picks a random party member), others by party banter.

On Wisdom: Redcliffe. I specifically get this upon exiting the chantry the first time. Don't always get it though, but it's one of my favourites. The line he should say is along the lines of "Is this where humans keep all their wisdom? That explains much."

On the treatment of Mages: triggered by one of the mage-tower dialogues. Apparently can also be triggered by a banter with Wynne (unconfirmed).

On raising children: Denerim marketplace. He will say something along the lines of "Those are too small, send them back to the priest for more training."

On the Tal'Vashoth (Qunari who have abandoned the Qun): A party banter with Zevran regarding Qunari in Antiva. This one that you can always get (provided you recruit Zevran, of course).
