I've recently acquired Awakening and have been playing through it (I've been enjoying it a lot, but that's besides the point). Just a little while ago, I had a conversation with Nathaniel Howe and, while he mentioned being in the Free Marches before, this conversation specifically mentioned being in Kirkwall.

Any odds that Hawke might cross paths with him at some point or find implications that he's been around?

It does seem possible. But I think it would have to be before the fifth blight since he returned to Fereldan after his father died.

We might not see Nathaniel per se, but we might get hints that he's been places, or see references to him in-game.

I'd like to meet him whilst drunk in a tavern, where we could recount our tales getting to the Free Marches after leaving Lothering, whilst he tells us that he has just heard that the bastard that killed his father has just been proclaimed the Hero of Ferelden!

I think we might bump into him. I mean, he doesn't show up in Amaranthine until I think 5 months or so after the end of Origins? That's not a whole lot of time for him to be a companion unless he's a temporary one, but he could make an appearance.

Eh, Nate was cool. My Human Noble executed his ass, but other characters spared him. Meeting him would be nice.

Nathaniel weirded me out big time. I executed him in my first Awakening playthrough simply because he looked and sounded like a creeper. Haven't executed him since, but he still creeps me out. lol

Heh.  Understood.  However, that wouldn't stop him from being alive and well in Kirkwall, depending on when Hawke arrives in that city.

I thought about this too....he was my favorite companion in awakening.
