The quartermaster at Ostagar is talking about a red headed female elf with a suit of chain. When you ask him if he need some assistance to find her, he declines and says it isn't important. Is it possible to find this person or is it all balderdash?

You can't talk to her although I've heard that you can SEE a redheaded elf at some point at Ostagar.

IMO it is just to provide an elven PC with a chance to verbally smack the guy upside the head. It also establishes the role of elves in larger society. So, just conversation, not a quest.Residentz wrote...

You can talk to the cute elven messenger guy, Pick. You could also lie to him and get a nice sword out of it. Which would be a mean, mean thing to do.

It's a reference to the City Elf origin. A redhaired female will mention that she is going to Ostagar with her parents. You can let her go, convince her father to let her stay with your father, or give her money so she and her parents can stay in the alienage or move to Highever.
You never actually see her though (not even if the CE lets her go to Ostagar). The only elf in camp is Pick. He is a redhead, but he's a he...

We don't know it's her unless you don't get that dialogue if you're a CE that stopped her from going to Ostagar.

The City Elf never gets the "where's my elf?" dialogue. Elves get the "why are you dressed like a ponce?" dialogue. Dwarves and humans get asked about the elf.
I'd bet my $5 that it's a reference to her. She's a she, a redhead, and the only elf who ever mentions that she's going to Ostagar.

Nevermind, I am wrong. Played through Ostagar so many times that I forgot when he said that dialogue.
At least CE wardens get a different response from the Quartermaster. He mistakes the Warden as another servant and wonders where his armor is at.
