Hi,
So what are you supposed to do exactly when someone spots you thieving and they calls the guards? I think it's cool that that happens in terms of realism and immersion, but there doesn't seem to be any way to deal with it except reload, which I hate doing. I can't bribe them, and I assume if I fight them that would make all Flaming Fist hostile to me. I mean, why do they even bother to talk to you if they're going to attack you anyway no matter what? Why can't you pay a fine or something?
Thanks.
What to do if someone calls the guards?

Kill them if you are evil, else simply run away. I mean if a thief has been spotted in real life he doesn't wait around to bribe the police, does he?

Run away. They'll disappear eventually.

Oh so they'll leave eventually? That's fine then. I assumed they'd just stay there, and I'd end up with dozens of hostile characters all over the place that I had to rush past every time I past that point.

Well if it's a guy who played a lot GTA.. could ty to get the five star.... bad for the community...
Anyway, flee it's the best option... but use stealth because the guards can leave the homes (well can't remember but i'm sure i once get killed because that)

Amnish Soldiers are bribable, though. At least for the higher priced option, IIRC.

Cast sanctuary is another option. Ideal for Candlekeep upstairs at the inn. Hide also works but you need to be out of sight of the guard.

Don't let anyone call the guards. A master thief is invisible!

I must be struck with a bad case of brain-death, because I've been looking my BG2 folder (and the WeiDU.log) through a couple of times now and I still cannot find the mod that would allow you to actually talk yourself out of these situations, when you are (correctly) accused of theft, but your charisma, intelligence and reputation should suffice to save the day.
I know I have it, because I've seen this particular mod component in action already. This is most baffling.

RR's Revised Thievery allows you to talk your way past guards.

I especially like the options presented to talk oneself out of failed pickpocket attempts. Makes pickpocketing a bit more fun.Irrbloss wrote...
