I guess lucky for Shepard, Miranda was involved in the project since she seems to be the only competent Cerberus Operative.

Well, even Miranda confides to Shepard that Shepard + Normandy vs. Reapers is the smoothest and most successful Cerberus Operation she ever witnessed. Go figure.

But basically the books (and ME game-plot) overdo the "Cerberus = bumbling fools" shtick quite a bit. TIM seems smart enough to know what oversight and control is , and judging from the LotSB files Cerberus was quite successful in their operation - like taking control of the greater part of human-space's drug trade, assassinating ambassadors and council members, popes and other potentates...., as long as neither the books nor the ME game seems affected. but the easy and overdone plot-device is Cerberus lost control of the project..... fools !

Actually, Retribution, is also an example of Cerberus' success. Against all odds.

Yep, I agree with you two.

I believe when they created the human reaper they were "inviting" humanity to join their superior race and live forever with them as an equal. Even though making smoothies out of thousands of people is an abomination in our eyes, to them is just the way to reach salvation.

I more or less think this as well, although I would put it another way.

The Reapers don't care that doing this is abominable.  Their only concern is perfection.  I don't think they'll ever go, "oh, oops!  We were wrong.  We won't harvest you after all.  Can't we just coexist?"  Which it kinda sounds like some people are suggesting...

As far as the book, it's very interesting.  Kahlee and Anderson do bumble around quite a bit as well, and they think Cerberus is the entire cause of everything without recognizing how their actions resulted in Grayson's release.

Cerberus did commit to an awfully dangerous experiment in the first place, though.

I've read a few chapters, and am enjoying it so far.  But did Karpyshyn really need to talk about a teen boy's erection for his hot teacher?:pinched:

Cue Van Halen!

When I read about the teen stiffy I thought: "this is one sh!t book".

That is all.

Word.

Can't say I don't appreciate him and the other Cerbies on here, though. If anything, they provide precious perspective and are usually quite good in the morality discussions.

Fair enough, to have a good word said about you is to have a good word said about you.

4- Cerberus actually did not really screw up on this one. I'm not sure why people think they did. Things went wrong when they were attacked by an outside party, not due to their own actions or negligence. In fact, The Illusive Man was playing it safe, and was planning to have Grayson eliminated in a few days.

I will have to disagree with you there, Itkovian.  Cerberus screwed up by not having a contingency plan to kill Grayson if something went wrong (like a power failure, outside attack, etc.)  In dealing with the dangerous technically he was dealing with, he should have had a squad of guards stationed by the cell at all times.  They should have been trained to hold the cell location if the station was ever in danger, and, if worse came to worse, eliminate Grayson.

Even the Illusive Man admitted he was sloppy.  Had he not been on that station, Grayson would have been killed by Kai's hand.  Instead, his assassin was to busy saving Mr. Illusive than taking out a galactic threat they had created.

In short, Cerberus screwed this one, yet again.

The reapers are using indoctrination tricks.  Saren fell for it, Kahlee was beginning to fall for it.  Saren believed that by making organics useful, he would save them.  He lost his mind to the machines and gave into their reasoning.  Reapers cannot bargain with humanity, they can only destroy and 'repurpose' us.  They aren't going to be the softhearted 'good guys'... they are just pandering to us to gain control.
