I always found DAO awkward, especially having 2 small daggers *magnetized* to my back. Will we get some kind of scabbards on our back in DA2 or even sheathing our weapons to our belt/side?

I'd love to see this. I doubt we will though. I think in the screenshots where they are not fighting, Hawke's blade is on his back. Of course, he's also using a massive 2-hander, so of course it'd be there.

It worked in Me because it's explained, not so in DAO. It broke imersion alot with weapons floating on our back or no string in the arrow. Hope that is fixed.

It makes it easier to see the enchants present on the blade, so I like the scabbardless look in that regard.

I'd prefer it if enchantments were a lot more subdued looking, so for instance the weapon would have glowing symbols along the blade rather than complete immolation.

As far as scabbards go, would you actually be able to sheathe a greatsword onto your back easily? I would think the human arm simply isn't long enough, so you'd have to remove the scabbard every time you sheathe and unsheathe. Also, that still leaves the issue of how you would hold mauls and maces and axes-- or do they have scabbards too?

Sheaths, bowstrings, natural hair.

And while we're on the topic, can the sheaths be at the belt instead of on the back? Please?

GREAT IDEA!!!! The worst was when in DAO someone was just wearing a shirt and yet had a sword floating on his back. Sheaths would greatly improve the visual immersion of the game.

The very small shields always bugged me the most. They just never looked like they were sitting properly on the person's back.

Bowstrings? Scabbards? Horses?

The only answer I got so far was "It's too expensive to animate etc."... so what's the real deal?

Id like scabbards bow strings... dont bother me much either way i dont tend to play archers as my main so i dont see alot of them. As for the great swords they tended to be more in a harness style over the back rather than scabbards for that size blade. Personally i always lvoed the idea off one hip worn and one back mounted but now i suspect im getting over the top hehe

It's funny, I never even noticed the bowstrings were absent until I saw someone complain about it in these DA2 forums. I wasn't here during pre-release for DAO.

Why exactly aren't there bowstrings in the first place?

Forget horses. Grey Wardens rode Griffins before so we should be able to ride the next best thing. Dragons! Well it is called Dragon Age for a reason. ;)

It's easier for the animations department

Easier? BioWare are supposed to be a AAA studio, one of the best ones in the business.

It's quite sad that a smaller developer with a fraction of the budget and expertise can implement them, so why can't BioWare?

Eragon has forever tainted Dragon riders, so no.

That was a truly awful movie. The books were only slightly less so.

Anyway, I don't mind not having horses (or griffons for that matter), but it seems like bow strings shouldn't be that hard. I mean it's basically a straight line when not being used, and two lines connecting the ends of the bow to the hand basically when it's being drawn. I'm no programmer, though, so I'll take their word for it.

This is a big issue too, since all players spent at least 80% of their time in dragon age staring at their backs (other's back too in cinematic). I think if we can sheath our swords and belt our axes/daggers it would add alot of variety to our character models.

Yeah magnetized weapons, over the top enchantment animations (have it glowing a red inscription on the blade then when you take the sword out it ignites), stringless bows broke the immersion for me, so i would love bioware to change all this! Just hope they read this :P

I agree it would be awsome using glowing symbols. I don't like walking around with a fireplace or spark generator on my back ...

On topic: Bioware should really look into implementing scabbards. It's just a little detail but it would add tons to visual immersion and overall experience :)

Each bladed weapon needs a scabbard that is unique to that weapon.

But that still leaves weapons like axes and hammers out in the cold, although I think they look silly anyway. I would prefer spears and halberds in place of axes and hammers, and they wouldn't have to be sheathed when not in combat.

I'm sure there are solutions but like everything else, it comes down to time and resources.
