That's the combat system used in most traditional RPGs (NwN, BG, PS:T etc). Games like Oblivion and ME are called Action RPGsSacremPyroblum wrote...
The simply "Stand their and beat each other to a bloody pulp" gameplay really puts the player out of control of the battle makeing level and weapons and abilities the only thing that matters.
Anyway, the combat animations are certanly improved (check the small alpha video in the sticky) and the combat system for the console version has been reworked a bit to be more like an Action RPG
And it's not DAO2, it's just called Dragon Age 2 (DA2), no Origins

why not as "Age of conan"?
While I kinda enjoyed AoC's combat system for the short while that I played it, I don't think it'll be good for a party based RPG. (I guess you can apply the same mechanic, but unless you're gonna let the AI handle your companions, combat may actually become tedious...especially if you have to handle all the combos for each character in your party

For a warrior character like myself (and 2-hand speced) I felt that the combat animations and the overal combat gameplay was simply generic. The simply "Stand their and beat each other to a bloody pulp" gameplay really puts the player out of control of the battle makeing level and weapons and abilities the only thing that matters. I hope that in DAO2 they give the player more control and make the animations simply more bad ass as you become more profecient with it.
I have literally no idea what you are asking for, because combat in ANY genre is "stand there and fight". You'll have to be way more specific.
