What is the best mic and software for multiplayer?
Is there any software available that can use voice commands to make party members do something, open inventory screens, etc? I know GameVoice used to open screens using voice recognition but don't know if this is still available.
To order a group member to cast Spell x on a clicked enemy just by asking to (and returning an appropriate response) would add a further sense of realism to the game. After all, party members don't have text mobiles yet, so just clicking a party member and then the enemy makes you feel you're just sending them a text message. Speaking the command 'Follow me" or 'Hold your ground' would be much more realistic than going clicketty click. Asking for aid verbally during battle would be a boon.

X-Fire not only has voice comm but a lot of other things like server browsing and instant messaging.
Other softwares that can be used for voice conferences are Skype, Ventrilo, Teamspeak and so on...
Also you are asking for some kind of voice control stuff. Here it is Say2Play
I believe the Neverwinter Nights Podcast had some info about it sometime...

For voice commands, check out NWN podcast #104. (May of 2009)
http://www.nwnpodcas...-from-say2play/
The guys interview Sean, a dude who worked on "Say2Play". Say2Play It is "The Weapon of Voice". They have templates for NWN2. You can also make your own template. Say2Play is now at version 2.0. Apparently, Sean is a big NWN fan!

As long as you're on nwnpodcast.com, check out episode 106. It features an interview with our own Dunniteowl. Now you can hear the voice behind the feathers.

Oh god, not that one. Yeah, that's what I sound like, sorry to say, when I am using my Real Voice. For those of you that played Adam Miller's "Dark Waters" I am also the voice of the slow Fessig sounding Chuck in the Firestarter Quest. I may also be a few merchants. I sent in the files and I think Adam used them, but I am not sure about that. We had some hard drive failures between the both of us and I know I lost all my sound files from that.
Thanks for the plug and I would love to see more on the Say2Play. Anything we can do to make game play a bit less keyboard intensive is a good thing in my book.
best regards,
dunniteowl

It was a good interview. As soon as I finish my current OC runthrough, I was going to start "Dark Waters", again. I'll keep an ear out
There are several NWN podcasts that I thought were really great and would be good to direct newcomers to. These boards seem to have increased NWN forum traffic.
/ slight hijack
I'm eagerly waiting for the next podcast. Hopefully, they will return from "hiatus". The podcast is too good of a resource to lose. I would have helped them by coming up with some interviews, but I just don't have time (like them). I would have liked to hear round tables with character builders who knew what they were doing. Builders always have a different point of view. Maybe pick a different class each week. I'm talking very in depth, nerdy, inside baseball stuff. They'd probably have to limit each segment like this to avoid losing the rest of the listeners. They often said some of their most popular downloads were on the character classes. (Personally, those character episodes were too general for me, but I've been playing since the Basic Set, in '78)
