AR or SR Adept?

Part of that, I think, is that its hard getting used to the scope-vision effect. Even so, it doesn't seem to deal the mad damage I was expecting (currently using the Incisor, though I tried the Viper earlier and found that it was especially bad that way). Do I just need to lrn2play a bit more, or would I have been better going with my usual standby, the Assault Rifle?

Is there any way to change that choice ithout replayign the collector ship? I have looked, but couldnt find the option to alter bonus weapons, or any words to that effect, in Gibbard's Save Editor. Once again, though, I could just be t3h n00b.
The gibbed save editor can give you any weapon you want. Just remember that if you take a SR then when you are fighting close to medium range you will be limited to the heavy pistol and smg.

But I'm sure ARs would work quite well also, and if you're more after an all-around feel then go for ARs.

Id say sniper rifle is the safe choice for maximizing utility.
Shotgun is awesome if you play with barrier and a team mate with squad cryo.

I think (but I don't have gameplay numbers) that the GPR is better for taking down shields than the locust. Only shepard has cryo ammo... so it would be impossible to have squad cryo ammo on Shepard when playing as an adept unless you use the gibbed save editor.

Yes, the AR is the most versatile weapon around - great bonus weapon for an Adept. I use the Vindi except fighting Geth, than it's the GPR (too bad you've to kill a lot of Geth to obtain it, but it's wonderful during Tali's and Legion's LM.

I think the Viper is amazing on an Adept especially against big well-protected enemies where Adepts are often lacking.
What big well protected enemies do you mean? If there's one class that shouldn't have any trouble fighting the toughest bastards of ME2 - it's the Adept. Use Singularity and they can't do anything (Krogan, Harbinger, Scion and all the dual protected bosses) - it's easy
Be careful with YMIRs, they're nasty. Geth Primes are a joke: Singularity doesn't work on them, but if you get yourself into hugging distance - you can simply beat the Prime to death.
@ Valentyna: It's very easy to change your weapons with Gibbed's save editor. You can also mod the ini files - simply change the weapon loadout of each class - that way you can remove weapons you don't need. I always equip 3 weapons on Shep, so I can use the scoll wheel to switch between all weapons without pausing the game. If you haven't figured it out yet, I will post how its done (I'm not near my gamingpc so can't check it)
I heard JaegerBane's Adept is carrying the Revenant, the Widow and he's considering to bring the Claymore as well.

To be honest, while the Vindicator is a good all-round weapon, it doesn't really offer that much over the Locust. It's got a bit higher damage but pays a horrible price in the amount of ammo you can carry and furthermore, takes up a bonus choice.
The best combo I've played on a stock Adept was a Carnifex/Locust/Viper. The Adept isn't really a close-range character by default, and this selection offers potent choices for all ranges.
If you're playing an Asari Commando Adept (i.e. one with plenty of points in Barrier and plays agressively) then the Eviscerator is a good choice.
Bottom line is that the Locust is a handheld assault rifle. There's little point in picking an extra medium-range weapon unless you *really* like automatic guns.

He will be. I tested out the Claymore on my Commando Adept in Overlord and suffice to say, bizarrely, I prefer that thing on my Adept rather than my Vanguard.
'Course, it's not for a while yet. I've just completed Horizon and just did Haestrom tonight - but I made such a god-awful screw-up of Haestrom, I ended up deleting my savegames up until just before I landed on the planet out of sheer disgust. Kept ballsing up combos, took that crap Incisor rifle by mistake, kept missing shots - It's like I've become Mass Effect 2 retarded.
What can I say? Garrus' dad was right - do things right, or don't do them at all

Incisor has poor thermal clip efficiency, this may not be a huge deal if you are playing more of a pure adept and are only using the gun to stip shields.
Apart from not always being out of ammo, the viper has higher DPS against armored targets, and bosses usualy tend to have a big thick armor barrier, meaning that viper would be a better option to bring along against gunships/heavy mechs/thresher maw/endboss

But as for your specific question about the save editor, I can't help you there. Would you like the links to the mod threads on the General Discussion forum?

Oh, I already know how to do it by editing my coalesced file, but I don't want to actually change the game - just alter the weapon loadout of this one specific playthrough. I feel as if I'm missing something since i can't seem to make it work with the save editor.
I would imagine it would function a similar fashion to adding new powers.
To be honest, you're just complicating things by using the savegame editor. If you're worried about rolling back then just copy the file and back it up before editing. I have multiple backed up ini files with different configs (I've bound a whole load of commands to different numpad keys - give talent point, unlock various guns etc (works well if you want the Pulse rifle on levels below hardcore).

The AR is a much better choice for adept I think.
Only if you're a hardcore close-range Adept and intend to carry the Tempest. The only reason an Adept would use an AR is if they didn't carry a Locust.

I'd say AR, just cause sniper zoom casting irritates me. also, snipers are just so much better with infiltrators and soliers that using them with other classes feels gimped.

^ Yeah, I'm loving the GPR/ tempest combination at the moment. it's like carring the locust and the tempest at the same time. also the GPR feels awesome to fire.

I dunno, an Adept with a Widow doesn't feel particularly gimped
