There are a few threads already regarding the current issues of the 1.04 patch. Sadly, it seems that a few of the issues I am now encountering have not been mentioned. I think ideally we should consolidate into a single thread listing everything, but that may be just a dream. Heh.

Please try to keep every civil, and if you list your issue or find you have the same ones as me, help out the Devs by listing your specifications, drivers, and the like; makes things easier. Anyways, here I go.

(1) Audio Popping - After installing 1.04 I noticed that my audio, for the most part only in cut scenes (dialogue), has been cutting out and sometimes popping. The last syllable of the last word in a sentence will cut out. I recall people having similar issues with Mass Effect 2. Whether or not the problems are being caused by similar issues however I do not know.

On the same theme of audio issues, it seems ambient sounds and music are now acting wonky. From what I can tell, some sounds are no longer being properly directed into the correct channels for a 5.1 set up. This is only a guess however, but that is what it sounds like.

The above audio issues do not happen to often, but it is quite glaring when they do. I did not experience either of these issues before 1.04.

Originally I was running unoffcial drivers for my sound card. In an effort to fix the issues in DA:O I updated to the latest, official driver release. There was no difference.

(2) Memory Leak & Load Times - For the most part I had quick load times prior to 1.04. After installing the patch however I now find myself suffering from longer load times, especially after playing for a few hours. The worst being when moving around in Denerim, especially transitioning from the Gnawed Noble into the Market. Prior to
installing 1.04 I could play for a long period of time, or leave the game running, without noticing a drastic increase in load times, FPS drops, or stuttering. Now I find myself needing to reboot the game every couple of hours.

I run on overclocked settings for both my CPU and my GPUs. I have tried returning them to stock values, but that just makes matters worse.

(3) DLC Authorization - I have seen this mentioned a few times now. When loading up the game, I find myself waiting over two minutes for the servers to realize that I am logged in and authorize my content. Prior to installing 1.04 authorization was instantaneous and I could load or start a new game without issue. I'm guessing it may just be the servers being overloaded, but you never know.

Some people aren't able to authorize at all now, which is a far more serious problem than the delay I am experiencing, mind you.

At first it was just my Stone prisoner DLC becuase I had to re-install my games and it wouldn't work but I got this new patch and now it's saying nothing is authorized.

Edit: O wait it's sorted itself out now >.<

I'm still on DA:O, and I just installed 1.04. The only bug I've noticed (so far, since I stopped playing immediately to troubleshoot) is that the Warden's Peak has disappeared from my map. I've already completed the quest, and I don't care about losing Levi Dryden as a merchant, but I DO care about losing all the cool swag I was storing in the party chest...

I have yet to encounter an actual game bug, mostly just issues revolving around audio and video. I have been playing through Origins first, so I have yet to test Awakenings with 1.04.

That said, I have also not played Awakenings yet, so I would be unable to tell the difference between a pre- or post 1.04 bug or issue.

Regardless, the audio issues are really starting to grate on me. It seems as though the issues are coming from certain spells, such as Animate Dead and Fireball. Those two have actually crashed the game down to desktop.

Using those two spells (I haven't found any others as of yet) will sometimes cause static noise followed by a crash to desktop. It definitely seems that Dragon Age doesn't want to play nice with certain audio drivers.

it is very important that BioWare fixes bug 2). I expierenced it myself. The best performance Dragon Age offers is in the first 30 minutes!

I'm not having any audio problems or memory leak problems, and the number of crashes I'm experiencing has decreased. I am, however, having to wait before the servers acknowledge I'm logged in whereas before it was instantaneous.

System specs:

Windows XP, SP 3

Intel Core Duo CPU E6550 @2.33 GHz

2.00 GB of RAM

Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS

Creative Labs kX 10k Audio - Model CT4780 Value

Network Adapter: Realtek RTL 8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet (DSL connection)

when trying to reinstall some of my mods, like armor and swords, the usually disable, save, and enable them again so they appear, no matter how many times I try, it will never show, and I was able to do it, right before the the patch, man my only mistake so far, was downloading that thing, if its not broken, don't ifx it, really wish I didn't download that patch

Lol. That's why I didn't install it. xD It's safer to use patch 1.03 and Qwinn's Fixpack. Obviously, Bioware picks their programmers up off of street corners.

I can understand having a few glitches here and there, but when patch, after patch, after patch is nothing but terrible glitches and game crashes....Yeah, no. -.-

Srsly, just uninstall 1.04 and use Qwinn's Fixpack. It doesn't suck. ;P

Honestly? I have no idea other than to uninstall the game and re-install it. Supposedly there's an easier way....but if there is, I certainly don't know it xD

Anywho, here's the fix pack. It fixes a **** load of glitches. A helluva lot more than Bioware has fixed so far anyway.

There is no alternative to reinstalling the game if you want to revert to an earlier game version. There isn't an "easier way" other than this. Bioware did not account of the need to "uninstall" any of their patches.

i've had some wacky issues with authorizing content and the game seems to not realize i am set to automatically log in, so i am often logged out since patch 1.04. i just log in manually. i posted it elsewhere, but i am encountering a new bug in awakening. armas appears as a merchant in vigil's keep, but i have not yet gone to the mines or the wending wood. i noticed the crashes and memory leaks are back after a short period of much less crashing.

I I demand from Bioware that they respond to this thread, surely i'm in no position to demand things, but i think i speak for every man och woman playing DA:O-DA:TA that we want some answers ASAP. I'd like to play this game without having to worry if the game is going to crash or if the stuttering/lagging/memory leak and long load times.

So with all due respect BioWare, get this issue fixed before the release of Dragon Age 2 (Which i will most likely enjoy playing!)

Personally, I don't think they read these forums, it is user to user after all.  My opinion is, we probably won't see another patch for DA:O any time soon if at all since DA2 is soon to be released.  They are EA now after all.

Well i've seen certain "moderators" post subject/topics etc etc, so they must have someone watching over the forums for customer feedback. Otherwise i'd say they're pretty stupid not taking all the information they can get ;P
