The Demographics of Character Favorites

Starting with Mondo47's polls:
Female Love Interests
Male Love Interests - Mondo had written the poll as 25 years old and under in the Female Love Interest Poll, so I can only assume the same should apply here.
I added another poll:
Non-Romanceable Characters and Demographics - Because of the 20 option limit, Kasumi and Zaeed's options were cut short compared to the other characters and I'm afraid Wrex got the shaft altogether.
Why is the division point 25 years old? Certainly no 25 year old wants to be thrown in the same demographic as a 16 year old. I suppose no 40 year old wants to be thrown in the same demographic as a 26 year old... well, that age difference probably isn't such a problem. The answer is simple: there is a 20 option limit. A division point had to be made. I might have made it 22 rather than 25, but I'm following Mondo's outline here.

Plus she kicks ass, even w/the crazy, which is comforting, and I weirdly find her outfit less insulting than Miranda's or Samara's, because it almost makes sense character-wise.

As a female who voted for Jack, part of why she's my favorite is she brings out the absolute best in MShep as he gets her to realize he's trustworthy. (As an FYI sort of thing.)

Actually, all three make sense character-wise. Samara's attire represents her elegance and grace. Miranda's attire flaunts her "perfectness" (in a bad way for some, good way for others). Jack's attire tells the story of her past. But I've digressed...
As a man, I sense the underlying issue isn't simply their outfits; but with their comprehensive looks. Women may very well identify with Jack as a character simply because she's the anti-thesis to the cookie-cutter supermodel sandwich that is Miranda and Samara, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I think Jack just hits less of the stereotypes that women don't want to be pigeon-holed into. Tali has the schoolgirl crush and the giddy behavior that comes with it - I'm way past that stage in my life and I doubt most older women want to be reminded of those days. Miranda has such an obvious male appeal. I suppose I thought I'd see Ashley do a bit better among women, but the whole racism card is always slapped down on her.

And yes, I love Ashley, but voted for Jack anyways, and I have no idea why she beat the tough soldier-girl out, as I never had a problem with Ashley's alien-suspicions... made for a very good character arc, I thought. *shrugs*

I voted for Garrus simply because he has the type of romance that's the most ideal to me for my personal life. I have a difficult time not inserting parts of myself while playing x3 It's undeniable no matter the gender that Shepard and Garrus have formed a deep bond through ME1 and ME2. If femshep pursues a romance, that bond gets expanded upon even further when Garrus opens up before the relay. I've always been a fan of friends first with a catharsis (this case shep dieing &/or Kelly embrace talk) that leads to romance. Anyhow, my second choice would've been Thane because he's that well-spoken, analytical type that I adore. Logically Thane makes more sense when it comes to his physical appeal buy hey, Garrus looks rather spiffy.
I voted for Jack here since she's not an archetype like others have been saying and I appreciate how her romance had Shep help her heal. Seems like normally that sort of relationship gets doled out to us females to do the fixing. Though it was hard not choosing Tali since I can totally relate to the shy crush that you're afraid to reveal because of some limiting factor; in this case the suit.

@amcnow Ok, I guess it's just a personal quirk, but I cannot stand high-heels on people who are supposed to be fighting. Just, can't. Totally fries my brain cells. (That's the part of Miranda/Samara I have issues with, outfit wise. The asari don't find flaunting themselves to be a demeaning thing to do, and Miranda's, well, Miranda. *grins* I just hate their shoes.)
And yes, I love Ashley, but voted for Jack anyways, and I have no idea why she beat the tough soldier-girl out, as I never had a problem with Ashley's alien-suspicions... made for a very good character arc, I thought. *shrugs*
Miranda and Samara are WEARING SHOES!!!!!!??????? Dang, I guess I will have to try to look that low to find out if you are correct.........
I like how Jack handles the actual romance part in her character, but I always have trouble with her whole, "I'm a murderess B1TCH!!!" I have romanced her 2-3 times out of about 17 plays. Tali and Miranda or both ok characters, always have to wonder what Miranda's writer was thinking about the Engine room, but hey it is different, lol.
As a over 25 male, I think my perference was Ashley as a nice good but flawed person to try to reform. I also think the people who slap the racism tag on her really don't understand her, or what she said. Sad to say they always point to one or two comments and ignore the rest and just scream RACIST, which she is not.
In ME2 probably Miranda gets the most romance from me, mostly because of her reactions while saving her sister and just after. It to me is more interesting than Tali's schoolgirl, and Jacks psychotic nature. I have romanced all the women in the ME universe that are available, but just can't bring myself to romance the men, just not my thing. In ME1, I played mostly female characters and romanced Liara, and even brought one over and stayed loyal, but I missed the feel of romance in ME2 and can't make myself romance a man.
