I tried playing Awakening with the 1.04 patch and nothing is fixed - none of the listed fixes are holding.
Do you *really* want to support a company that realeases incomplete software and doesn't make much of an attempt to fix it?
I am willing to bet that *crucial* pieces of GoA will be utterly non-functional, and we will be waiting another three months for fixes that may or may never come.
I know this sounds harsh, but...
Don't get your hopes up!!

His problem is that he's playing Dragon Age on a PS3 - screw $ony!!! Go buy a PC, man! The game works fine for us PC users and we can get free mods too!
Oh JOY!!! 24 hours to go!!!

I play Origins on a PS3 and my game works much better after 1.04 after
minor bugs before that. It is not $ony, they don't eat up money like
keeping a PC up to par would cost. I can't be doing with upgrading it
all the time so I go with a console where I can sit on my sofa and just
play. In my opinion much better than PC but everyone has their own
preferences.

Good on you! I'm happy the game works for you.
Yes it is a lot of work to maintain a PC but I use mine for work as well as play so I can write off the expenses. Yes, playing on a console is easier but the cost savings are somewhat offset by the higher expense inherent of console games. For instance, I bought my PC Dragon Age: Origins for only $30. I know that the XBox version costs around $60-$70. And consoles do not have access to player mods - and there are quite a few of them that add considerable re-playability to Dragon Age as well as other moddable games.
The price of PC's have dropped over the last few years. Six years ago, I had to spend upwards of $3000 to get a decent machine; nowadays I can get something far more powerful for half that price!

ARe there different versions of PS3's such that certain models are having problems whereas others are not? I know there are different versions of XBox's and some of them are C**P.
I'm curious about this too. I'm new to playing on a PS3 and haven't experienced most of the issues affecting other PS3 players. My games do get choppy at times but that only really started happening consistently after the patch right before Awakenings.
In any case, looking foward to tomorrow's DLC
