Asari were considered weak for needing other species to breed.

This is the only one that really doesn't make a lick of sense.

It's considered a weakness because relying on other species to breed (they don't really though) means that they are not self-sufficient, and never will be.  I don't know how much I buy that, but much of what Harbinger says is rather questionable.  I think that Turians being too primitive is the hardest one to swallow.  I guess it could be the dextro-aminos combined with the way their biology works and the fact that it isn't like any of the other species could be considered too primitive, but that's kind of a stretch.

That's Turian culture you're talking about. Harbinger is talking about their genetics. I think he (and the writers) just couldn't think of any reason not to be harvesting Turians so he just made up any nonsensical excuse he wanted.

Yes, but the culture was spawned by their aggressive, direct and warlike nature, caused by their genes.

Yeah, but the fact they dont need to rely on other species to breed (as you said) is why its so stupid. The Asari only prefer to breed with other species because of cultural conditioning that its somehow 'bad' to breed with other Asari. On a purely genetic level, there's no downside to Asari breeding with one another, and they have the added benefit of being able to mix genetics with others.

Thats the irony. The Reapers apparently want the most diverse genetics, when theoretically the Asari would have the most diverse, due to genetic sharing.

But yeah, most of them are pretty stupid. Typical "humanity is oh-so-special" cliche attitude.

On the primitive status of the Turians:

In Ascension, it's noted that the Collectors are taking particular interest Human Biotics prior to the events of ME2. It may be that I high rate of biotics are a measure by which a species is judged adequate for Ascension to Reaperdom. Turians, for whatever reason, have a very low rate of biotics within their population.

Considering the nature of Reaper 'construction', it seems reasonable that a certain number of biotics of a particular species would need to ascend in order to form the appropriately sized Eezo core of the reaper.

By this theory, though, the Asari would be the most suitable for Ascension due to the 100% of biotics in their population. Also, as noted by Samara, there are potential for defects in Asari-only pairings, most notably the Ardat-Yakshi. We know that the Asari do not need other species to reproduce, but their unique method of reproduction and the results of cross-species pairings is not fully understood either. In truth, their methods of randomizing their genetic code would result in less genetic diversity than a typical mating species because all of the genetic code comes from a single parent.

There are things left unexplained in the storyline, but so far, I see nothing that Drew K wouldn't be able to fill in.

Thats all I remeber.

That's Harbinger's way of saying "Nice ass, Miranda."

Harbinger seems to have a LOT of pent up sexual frustration.

He says it when he gets close to your team mates during battle, depending on who it is. In the case of this thread, he says it when he gets close to Garrus.

It's a good indication for you the player to know that someone is about to have their ass owned unless you do something. Of course you shouldn't have let Harbinger get that close anyways. Most players miss these insults because of this.

Harbinger just should have said:

"TURIAN. YOU ARE NOT THE SPECIES OF THE LEADING GAME PROTAGONIST. REJECTED."

We have been told many times, by the codex and in game dialogue that the Asari DON'T mix their genes with other species. If they did, then their children would obviously inherit physical traits from both species, and the idea that two species that had evolved on different worlds would have their genes be similar enough to allow reproduction is ridiculous. The irony is that you are trying to deeply analyze the game without having paid attention to the information that it has given us.

Harbringers first plan was to make a turian reaper. Then it remembered that here already is a Garrus Vakarian.

So it had to settle for humans.

Well Harbringer is a bit of a geek about humans and a total Shepard fanboy/girl/thingy. The thing about the insecure geeks are that they have atendency to call other geeks with other interests geeky so they can live in denial about being geeks themselves. In these forums we see examples of this in those who tries to mock Tali fans for example. I bet Harbringer is constantly having wild discussions about wich race is the best reaper baby food on the reaper forums.
"Anyone who thinks turians are best are naive and stupid!"
"No salarians are best because I know best"
"All you human fans are racists"
Etc... etc...

So naturaly Harbringer falls back into his habit of trolling all races that are not human when it meets its idol Shepard.

Oh I laughed, so hard.

I agree w/ the theory Harbinger is pissed at Saren and therefore calls all turians "primitive." Even the Retribution novel drops a little hint/cameo to Saren's past as a Reaper agent (you might know what I am talking about when you run into it; Grayson mentions the line).

It's because turians are warlike and miltaristic. They had to make the volus a client race just so they didn't have to deal with things like money.

this! They can't even run their own economy. I can see why the Reapers look down on them.

"Shut your mouth Nazara. You with your damn turians. They are too primitive!"

"I don't even have a mouth you dumb vaste of eezo. Too primitive, too primitive, thats all you say all day long. Besides I got krogans and geth too, what are your apes going to do against them? Bleed on them?"

"Gah! I'll show you! When the humans kick your behind I will laugh! Laugh! Then I will make the most leet and uber reaper ever from them!"

Given how stupid the idea of melting people down to build starships is in and of itself, their bizarre justifications for why humans and only humans are suitable for their slushee machine are the least of our concerns.

I like to think that the Reapers actually just build more of themselves, and don't use the slushee machines, and just acted like they did as some sort of elaborate practical joke that they use to amuse themselves during 50,000 year hibernations.

No Asari don't share genetics with other species. They use other species to randomize their own DNA a little, but there are no alien genetics entering the asari gene pool. Purebloods are obviously having some problems. The stigma is there for a reason. Ardat Yakshi and other stuff we may not know about. That's why Harbringer calls them weak.

How come when Sovereign possesses Saren, killing Saren kills Sovereign, but when Harbinger possesses a Collector drone, killing the drone doesn't kill Harbinger.

Because a) why would you ever go anywhere without Garrus in the first place, and B) concussive shot is useful against barriers.
