Alistair is my favorite character. I thought he was funny and sweet and sweetly flawed. He was my companion throughout DAO and I'd love to see him return, though, of course, that would be difficult since he's the crux of so many different endings. But, from a macro perspective, I think he's too fine and memorable a character to only use in one DA installment.
This doesn't mean that I didn't love most of the other DAO characters and would also like to see their return. Alistair is just my favorite. Then Dog, Zevran, Leiliana, Shale, Morrigan, and Sten. I also liked some of the Awakening characters but didn't get to know them well enough to really bump any of my original crew.

Shale was my favorite. But doubt she'll be in DA2.

I love a ton of the characters from origins and awakening. For DA2, I think a storyline perspective would be most conducive to having Ser Bryant play a bigger role in the story.
I'd also really love to get some more story about Nathaniel Howe, and I could easily see where he could be included in at least an area or two if the timeline for DA2 is where I think it's going to be.
As for my favorites? Yeahhhhh, dunno if I can choose one. From DAO, it'd probably be Alistair. From Awakening, it's Nathaniel.

Oh yes, forgot about him or her, but that was one of them for sure, just hated to walk with him/her cause of the noise there came from the walking

They're all good ... but it would either be Sten or Shale.

Favorite from DA:O definitely would be Alistair. Handsome, sweet, funny, what more can I say? From Awakenings, my favorite character was Nathanial Howe; he had that awesome archer thing going on, and quite frankly, I think he had a very sexy voice! It was a shame there wasn't more of an opportunity for relationship development in Awakenings (we'll probably never see that again, considering the road BW seems to be travelling down).
As for character transfer to DA2, not really sure. I think Nathanial Howe would be kind of an obvious choice with the Free Marches figuring into the story. Just so long as they don't bring back that hideous corpse Justice. That was a FAIL as far as I was concerned. I had to use that guy as a tank through Awakenings and I would wince every time I saw him on screen. Yuck.
I would love to see Alistair come back in DA2, but I don't think it's likely. If he does it will probably only be a cameo, as in Awakenings.

my personal favorite in dragon age would have to be morrigan or alistair.Morrigan i found very hard to figure out and i liked that about her and she was also the person i rommanced with. With Alistair we felt like really close freinds and would love to see him in dragon age 2.but there are many diffrent ways the story could playout for him so that would be very difficult. i never felt very close to any of the chrachters from awakening besides anders he was very funny. If i had to go with a chrachter for dragon age 2 it would have to a sentinel tank were any of you curious on who would wear that sentinel armor maybe they were a group or a army.I thinkthat would be a cool party member

Favourite character from DA:O? Morrigan.
Loved the voice (Claudia Black/Farscape/SG-1 fan here). Interesting character, esp. since I did the whole romance thing.
I think I was, for a bit, speechless after I finished my first playthrough of DA:O: more because of the Dark Ritual and what it entailed, than with the demise of the Archdemon. Last time I felt that strongly about a game ending was w/ The Longest Journey: Dreamfall, I think.
As to who I'd like to see in DA2 from DA:O? A short part for Morrigan would be nice, but for someone who'd stay longer...I dunno. Oghren comes to mind. Or Sten.

My favourite characters were Morrigan, Sten, Loghain, Duncan and Anora, in that order. I thought all the companions were pretty well written. I didn't really like the personalities of Leliana or Wynne but I still thought they were well written, they got strong reactions from me. Other characters I thought were very well done included the entire Cousland family, Arl Howe, Behlen, Gorim and Leske. Not sure what to make of Flemeth.

I'm sorry, but "I liked Morrigan because she put out" was a hilarious sentiment.

The lovely Leliana, she was definately my favourite. Although she and my Warden are continuing their adventures together after the events of Awakening so I very much doubt she'll appear in Dragon Age 2. Loghain would be good to see again, or maybe even someone like Fergus Cousland.

Companion-wise it's rather tricky. If you're asking who I thought was the BEST character, it's a close tie between Morrigan and Alistair. My FAVORITE character was Wynne.
I also loved Dagna, even though she wasn't a major character.

I don't really have a favorite, though I would say Sten, Lohgain, Herren, and Wade were SOME of my favorites.

That's crazy hard. I am utterly unable to pick a single one.
I will, however, say that my favourite four were Leliana, Alistair, Morrigan and Loghain.
Leliana...
well, from an emotional standpoint I could say that I love everything about her. Her personality, her sexy voice, her dialogue, her pretty face... From a more clinical one, I find her a truly complex, well-written and well-rounded character.
Alistair is probably the character who stood out the most for behaving exactly like a real-life person. He does fit a character archetype, but his relationships with other people and his outlook on things are just so very well-defined. Not to mention the fact that he's so damn funny at times...
A really great character. On a side note, probably the one with the best face animations.
Morrigan is... interesting, to say the least. The people who flag her as Chaotic Stupid or Stupid Evil are just shortsighted. What probably defines her the most is her belief in freedom. It's what brings her to despise the Circle mages and the Chantry, and it's also what makes her backpedal frantically when she realizes that she actually feels something for the Warden romancing her. To me, she's very different from the typical girl who acts tough because she wants to be loved. She really is spiteful towards most things around her. She feels no need for love and when she starts feeling something for the Warden it's an entirely new experience for her. In a way, she's probably the least experienced partymember. Also, I love her snarking.
As for Loghain... well, I like Loghain because he's a frickin' puzzle. I still cannot bring myself to decide what he really is: a honorable, brave man who was blinded by excessive love for his nation; a nationalistic, paranoid fool who allowed horrible crimes to be committed under his reign while a far greater danger threatened his land, or just a man who had gone mad with ambition? A mix of these, I suppose. Anyway, I like him because he manages to make me feel empathy and rage, almost at the same time.
Here's hoping DA2 blesses us with equally great characters.

Zevran was my favorite, followed closely by Morrigan and Alistair. I thought the writers did a fantastic job with Zev-- somehow managing to hint at his depth even when he was doing his damndest to seem like a superficial lust-monster. He's easily the most perceptive character, and probably the best at manipulating every companion away from his secrets, while somehow sensing theirs. He's also extremely brave and resilient, and despite the horrors he's been through, and the terrible things he's been forced to do, he manages to stay optimistic and compassionate. Morrigan's another great survivor. No matter how Flemeth tried to stamp any sign of whimsy and humanity out of her, still a core of it remains, despite her "dog eat dog" mentality.
