Hi everybody,

I'm going to begin my first playthrough on Veteran very soon (hopefully tomorrow). I'm going to play as a Soldier since it's allways my favourite class. Having said that, I could use some advice to build my charachter properly:

I've read some guides and I'm sure that I will max out Combat Mastery (Commando), Adrenaline Rush (Heightned), Inferno Ammo, and Squad Distruptor Ammo. I'll also put one point in Concussive Shot (not worth more from what I've read so far).

Then, I'm at a loss :D. I do not know wich skill it's better to choose between Cryo Ammo for AOE, Warp Ammo for barriers, Tungstene Ammo for more damage or Geth Shield for some good old defense. What's your advise? Thanks in advance.

Squad cryo is always good.

Hardened AR is better unless you are getting widow.

AR is the only power you ever need to use just keep mashing it. Put squad cryo on a couple biotics/tecs with locusts to follow you around and freez things, manually control their powers for warp explosions or overloads/incinerates against whats needed, shoot things in the face.

The one thing I've learned about soldier builds is that it's very forgiving. Took Flashbang Grenade for my bonus, which you get with the Kasumi DLC. Warp Ammo will pick up the slack that's lacking from all your other ammo powers. I've always liked Squad Cryo Ammo, though. The shattering AOE effect is just nice.

Keep it coming... I created a default ME2 male soldier that I named JohnCANNON and I'm trying to figure out how to play him (since I usually play biotic classes).

Wait, is that supposed to be canon? I suppose soldiers can be cannons too, especially with a widow, but whatever.

On topic, since the OP is playing on veteran, I suggest squad cryo over squad disruptor. The benefits of squad disruptor are dubious when most of your foes have no defenses .. and getting hit enough to overheat their weapons would usually also prove fatal anyhow.

As for the bonus power, it largely depends on squadmate choice. For instance, taking slam is useful if you bring someone with warp.

I took Armor-Piercing for my bonus which helps you knock guys down faster so you can use Cryo. Cryo is a godsend, especially with Husk hordes.

Why does no one like Heavy Disruptor Ammo? Every build I see recommends Squad Disruptor. I'm not trying to defend Heavy Disruptor seeing as I never used it long enough to notice any real advantages over Squad but I'd like to hear from an advocate of Heavy for once.

Still unconvinced that Armor-Piercing provides any substantial advantage over Incendiary aside from working on a one-shot headshot.

woops... yeah I used the wrong word. I meant canon... but thanks for pointing it out in an impolite way.

1Hardened Adrenaline unless u got widow.

2Concussive Blast. (area)

3 Squad Incendiary

3.1Inferno Ammo.(if your game is modded)

4Squad disruptor

5Commando (wpn dmg, shock trooper +1 sec of Adrenaline rush is hardly the trade of more wpn dmg from commando which is your primary means of dealing dmg)

6Bonus power: Geth Shield Boost Improved (+10% wpn dmg)

7 (only if game is modded) Add Squad Armor piercing, so you can keep inferno ammo area of effect, while allies still deal great dmg to armor.
