The Talmassran priesthood already have the horn/no horn in the "real" name of the Qunari. Which is a genetic code of sorts. It simply wouldn't work.PandemicFear wrote...
It would obviously be extremely difficult to remove them entirely. Maybe they just remove them at the base, but there is still a form of "stump" left behind.Herr Uhl wrote...

Super neat! Thanks for posting, Saibh.
On the subject of horn-less qunari being 'chosen', there are cultures in this world that consider a lack of skin pigment - albinism - special and near godly. I don't think it's far fetched for those missing horns to be held in such high regard.
But if the horns can be removed would you not remove them so you would also be special?
You don't gain ranks among Qunari. It's not like the ones that gave birth to the child would remove them, the child is taken by the Talmassran.

It just seems the whole "spikes and horns" thing is something being crammed into everything. Its just part of the "hot rod samurai" art style, I guess....
Well, I would agree with you that the spikes on the darkspawn are just ridiculous. But at least BioWare is giving a canonical reason for the horns.

On a related note, what is he holding in the concept art, anyway? A skull?
That's all I can think of when I see that.

nor do I really see the resemblence between Kratos and this guy.
ORLY? You mean, besides the skin color, shirtless muscle, angry face, and red body paint? So yeah, no resemblance as long as you ignore the most obvious elements?
We are not saying they copied Kratos design (which by the way looks exactly like Kevin Garnett) we are only saying it LOOKS a lot like Kratos.
I have no idea what the inspiration for it was
Actually, its white body paint on him. That isn't his skin color. In the first screenshot you can sort of see hues of bronze underneath (doubt BioWare would change the entire race's skin color)There is some resemblence, sure, but I wouldn't say he looks a LOT like Kratos. And that is my opinion, and I think you should respect that, as yours should be too.
It sounds like we agree that there are many obvious distinct visual similarities in the design then?
I would certainly never mistake this art for Kratos. But now I can't stop seeing Kratos. Of course whenever I see Kratos I see Kevin Garnett ever since my girlfriend pointed out that Kratos and KG have the exact same face.

I think many mothers would remove the horns at berth if it made the child special.

If Sten was designed like that, I'm not sure I gave him the opportunity to come with my warden

A mage, in other words.
Or maybe not. But that's my guess for now.

I know, I was agreeing with you. I edited my post because I left something out. "That way you could tell the difference between those born truly hornless and those who removed their horns in shame, or for whatever reason."Herr Uhl wrote...

You know I could buy this if it would turned out that and Old God or powerful demon is behind the events, and this influence shapes the body figures of those we see...That could be a good explanation, but I kind of doubt it will happen.
The only major differences between this Qunari and the Qunari of DA:O is the fact he has horns and his facial structure is more....brutish, I guess (sort of)

Possibly they are monitored when they give birth to prevent this. Who knows. Again, it's not that much of a stretch.

Off-Topic: I actually have this strange and possibly unlikely theory that Flemeth may somehow be a Qunari(I think someone said on the forum that Qunari women are not about the same size as a human if I'm correct). Also, Flemeth may have white skin(err, I mean, "light" skin) because, well, maybe she...adapted to a cooler environment? I dunno.
What, because Lamarck's version of evolution works in Thedas?
As for the skin color, it could be that the qunari who lack horns also possess darker skin. It's not uncommon for traits to be passed down in "sets," so to speak, if the traits are close to one another on the chromosome. ...and I'm going to stop using science for the fantasy universe with elves and dragons now.

Maybe it's an incredibly big taboo to the qunari. Really, it isn't that much of a stretch to think about these things.
I have no problem with the horns as long as it makes sense, i am sure bioware will come up with an answer.

Yeah, the horns are only a small detail. Next stop elves with only one difference-they have wings out of chitin. Besides that not much will be changed:wizard:Grommash94 wrote...

Plus the reasons others have already said!
As for the mercenaries and merchant, the horn removing thing explains that. You don't have to stretch your imagination too far to fit things together I think. :3
