Ok, if you are happy with that then no problem.

What? It is how they work. Are you just going to be silly and assume what they are like.

Does this excerpt from the Qun make it any more clear for you?

Shok ebasit hissra. Meraad astaarit, meraad itwasit, aban aqun. Maraas shokra. Anaan esaam Qun. (Struggle is an illusion. The tide rises, the tide falls, but the sea is changeless. There is nothing to struggle against. Victory is in the Qun.)

Do you agree that women should wear burkahs? Because countries in the Middle East do.

I would prefer the explanation that all male qunari have horns, and that Sten really was a female ... xD

tbh, I wish they were a little more upfront about the change, because the new qunari does look awesome, however, their explanation is on the weak side. But then again, it is a very difficult position they are in, trying to fit everything back in and quickly.

Along with that, we get the revelation that he dresses up as a male because of his intense hatred of women in combat, and refuses to acknowledge his real gender.

Hmm... if Qunari have horns now, which makes them look more like Ogres... will elves look more like Shrieks?

Wouldn't be surprised if elves were given more animalistic qualities. Something like a longer more slender body and neck. Possibly sharper canines.

Btw, while I'm less then enthusiastic about the changes, it is pretty cool looking. Only good thing I can think to say really...

I wonder if they'd end up looking like... Na'vi minus the blue skin. Look at where the Shriek's ears are.

Well, if they wanted to make it clear the Qunari are another race they succeed by adding the horns. In the previous games I always considered Qunari to simply be another culture, so this would make their status as another race concrete.

That's actually exactly what I had in mind. A form easily recognizable as attractive but still different from humans.

It's not a happy or unhappy thing, it's just the way Qunari are described.  They don't have conventional families; a male and female are assigned to mate, and the child is taken by their "priesthood" to be trained and placed in their proper place in society.  Qunari are pragmatic in the extreme about this, so it's unlikely that a mother would do anything to upset their child being placed in the right place, if they even had the opportunity.

I have no problem what any person wears.

Okay, seriously. Stop speculating guys, you're scaring the crap out of me. Now I'm going to go to bed and have nightmares about Dragon Age featuring fanged, clawed elves duking it out with winged elves who resemble shrieks. :alien::sick:

Y' know, the Bioware guys are pretty bad at this "dropping subtle hints" thing- they only seem able to make gamers panic and trolls rejoice. They should hire someone else for the marketing sector. :D

I'm thinking exactly the same thing- the whole reference to Plains Indians in the GI Art article made me think of Na'vi and if it seems BioWare is redesigning the races based on how their darkspawn versions look, then yeah I could see the Elves looking more like Shrieks, or Na'vi, if you prefer.

But what the heck does that mean the dwarves will look like....more like genlocks?

I take my last previous comment back. I don't want to see anymore Qunari women.

Varric looks like a regular dwarf to me in his concept.

By New Qunari not looking like Sten logic, thats just one dwarf in the DA2 universe- the rest are all actually 12 feet tall with laser beam eyes, hot pink skin and fists made of rock!

I have no problem what any person wears.

Then why do you have a problem with what a fictional society values?

i actually like the look! I'm glad they changed it, because in DA:O they look very similar to humans, just buffer and with different hair. (i hope they have a npc generator to change the facial features. so its not just one model....sorta like the asari.)

as long as they mix it with the new and the old qunari (tweaking the old just a bit, so they look half/half-like a transition, so players can tell its still a qunari. or perhaps armor or colour pallet)

I'd expect the body of "old" Qunari to be just like one of this new concept (so they all look pretty much like that) and the horns to be one of available "hairstyles", allowing them to have both kinds of the Qunari in game without much technical fuss.

Because it does not make sense so far.

Yeah I don't find the argument very convincing either. But I am willing to believe they intended to include horned Qunari but decided to bin the idea and use a generic model for all those mercs you keep fighting throughout Fereldan. Might just be a case of developers running low on time and not fixing something they had intended to.

Well I believe Qunari were originally supposed to have horns in the first place, but that gave the devs trouble with helmets, so they had the horns removed. Ogres didn't wear helmets so they got to keep their horns. (plus, the whole "ram" attack just wouldn't be the same without horns)

I like your idea, they should have explained it alone these lines, instead we get some mumbo jumbo about horn removal, and not all qunari having them. Its like saying not all elves have pointy ears, only some of them do.

I'm quite excited about this, the fact that they are taking the time to redesign them may mean that the Qunari are going to feature more prominantly in DA2...? I really find them intriguing.

squees!

...mind you, they are tweaking elves and dwarves too...hmmm, I will dare to dream for now!
