Then why do you have a problem with what a fictional society values?

Because it does not make sense so far.

Does driving on the left side of the street make sense to you? How about praying to a God that is not yours? How about praying at all? We could do this all day.

Have not read most of the posts as it seems the majority of the Thread has broken down into sociological or ideological arguments, however I will simply say that this *Really* took me by surprise. Despite coming out of Left Field with this Art/Story direction for the Qunari, the truth is we really only knew very little about their Race as a whole, and what little we *did* know came from The Sten, who's Barasaad were, in essence, just Scouts. And, as we know, Scouts are usually Lite Shock troops or fighters trained to move quickly for the purposes of crossing great details or gathering Intel. As such, The Sten could have been a small example of Qunari males.

We have not seen the *True* face of the Qunari; as such, BioWare still has plenty of room to go wild with them as a Race, and expand on the Physical dynamics as well as the Social system above and beyond what role The Sten had in it. The new look is fairly Mind Blowing. I digg the fact that the Qunari seem to really stand on their own as a Race. The appearence of The Sten in DAO was just so...well, I guess you could say "Plain." At least IMO. What we have here is now a truly foreign and alien Race, adding to the strange and violent, while at the same moment almost serene quality of their species. *Really* want to hear more about this. Hope we see them in the Trailer next month.

Now all he needs are wings. "We don't fly. The air is too thin for us to fly. We glide."

Points for getting the reference (hopefully it wasn't mentioned already).

First thing I thought was Gargoyles, but I'm probably horribly wrong.

I just hope that the only changes to the elves are those huge hands.

Huge hands? Was there a picture released of the DA2 elves design?

Yeah I don't find the argument very convincing either. But I am willing to believe they intended to include horned Qunari but decided to bin the idea and use a generic model for all those mercs you keep fighting throughout Fereldan. Might just be a case of developers running low on time and not fixing something they had intended to.

I mean, if the horned Qunari we see here is just a variation of the bronze skinned, hornless Sten/Origins Qunari, that would be ok, I guess. But if we're supposed to think that all Qunari have spiky horns, white and red Kratos paint and look all Daedric- that I have problems with.

The thing I liked about the Qunari as portrayed inOrigins was that in reading the accounts of them from the Codex from the likes of Brother Genitivi, it made them seem like huge hulking giants, just really alien looking. And then when you meet Sten, sure he is a big guy, but its not so much his visual appearance that sets him apart but rather his world view which makes him so alien. I liked that dichotomy. Now it seems they're "amping up" the alien appearanceof the Qunari  to match with the alien philosophy of the Qun.

I'm sure the war paint varies from clan to clan or guy to guy.

Let it be known that you also see Sten's companions in the fade, none have horns.

Not as yet. I'm only expressing my hope that would be the extent of any dramatic overhaul.

Not that alien, both humans and elves were quite accepting of the Qun and even appointed as administrators in by Qunari in conquered lands.
Of course this was Dragon Age First Edition;)

The new design looks good. The change makes more sense lore-wise. It explains why ogres have horns and Sten's use of the word "human". It always confused me, the original design of the Qunari were just slightly taller then the average human, otherwise they looked pretty similar. Its a fantasy world, its better to have more distinct features between the races. It's too bad they didn't introduce this concept in DAO, people would have less of a problem with it then.

Horned qunari are special? Hmpf. Fine in theory, but I won't be surprised if every qunari in DA2 is "special" then.

Again, the article clearly states that it's the naturally hornless Qunari who are special, not the horned ones.

Ah, okay, you're right. considering there were a lot of hornless qunari running around in Origins, it's an easy mistake to make, though.

So... adding that mysterious stump-and-scar-less horn-cutting by those who leave qunari society (i.e. mercenaries among others) to it, they really managed to cover everything.

Basically the argument still stands, though. Wanna bet that mysteriously none of the DA2 qunari mercenaries felt the need to cut off their horns?

Uh, no, quite a few party members (and you) comment how weird their ideology is. The elves and humans of Par Vollen are followes of the Qun, since being qunari is a way of life, not just what species you are.

Some humans find other humans utterly foreign to them. Glad to see you're stretching the first game's lore to match your hate of the second's. Some people can be converted to new beliefs, some cannot.

If they are Tal-Vashoth, perhaps its a part of their ideology to cut off their horns to seperate themselves from the crowd. If they are outcasts and mercenaries, perhaps some special exile ceremony removed them.
