No! Tatts on females are forever ruined thanks to myspace/facebook .

Tatts were cool from like 1992-1997, after that, every stripper in FLA got one, then the Myspace thing happened and every 15 year old try ing to be a Webstar got a bunch. Horrible

I love the forums. Bile-spitting everywhere for everything, relevant or not.

Why such a deistic change to the Qunari? They look much more demonic now and basically look more like Darkspawn ogres, even less friendly then before,Sten was already as big and scary as it is.

This is a cool approach to something new. But you must be a bit short sighted to see that not all qunari are like that. These people must be ones with great importance, even greater than Sten. A chief, king, prince...I think these are the Horned qunari we see.

Other way around.  The non-horned qunari are the minority, and considered special.  The horned ones are the majority of qunari.

Possibly, since the whole thing looks like the evovled backwards............into demons.

Reminds me of DBZ, Human to Ape; or in this case to bull.

If the qunari go "kamehameha" many will uninstall the game

Looking more like Ogres makes sense since Qunari broodmothers give birth to Ogres.

You know, the question has to be asked now; what do female qunari look like?

The answer;

Tell me someone's thought of this.

Or the qunari we've seen is just a male Desire Demon! Posted Image

You beat me to it partner, I was actually thinking of the desire demons as corrupted Female Qunari when I saw stens new look.

Where did you see Sten's new look ? I've only seen a generic new qunari with horns? IIRC it has been mentioned that if Sten shows up he still wouldn't have horns.

Qunari having horns makes sense, and explains why enormous horns are found on darkspawn ogres, the spawn of Qunari broodmothers.

Yep, the way its explained is that some Qunari are born without horns and the ones like Sten that have no horns are actually considered special in society and often sent on trips  to other lands to bring back information like Sten was.

My question about all this is: Sten says a farmer is a farmer is a farmer right? Shopkeep is a shopkeep... You can't change who you are.

So how can a Qunari that is born without horns be someone special destined for some special role in life? If he is born to a farmer is he a special farmer?

Qunari live in a caste system. Someone born to a warrior is agoing to be a warrior and so on and so forth.. If a woman is born without horns how can she be special, because Sten says more than once that women have very specific roles in their society.

There are exceptions to every rule? Or maybe a hornless (for lack of a better term) is a hornless is a hornless. How can they be anything but?

Keep in mind too that qunari do not have family units, and do not even know to whom they are related. They are all raised and educated by a specific group (the Tamassrans) and evaluated for their roles in life--they do not inherit whatever job their parent had.

It's not a retcon.  Whether or not you buy into how horned qunari have been justified is up to you though.

Mr. Gaider,

As Nancy Grace would say "BS". I realize as a writer you feel ownership of the game, but in your rebuttal there on the first page of this thread it's almost like you're saying "It's my game and I'll do what I want with it, NYAH!" Go eat a snickers bar, you're starting to sound like a diva.

I understand wanting to be creative, but for example, we meet Mr. Spock from planet Vulcan. He has pointy ears. On another episode we meet another Vulcan, but this guy wears pimp clothes and calls himself A pimp named Slickback. Some Vulcans are scientists, others are pimps. Sounds crazy huh? Given what most geeks know about vulcans. Putting horns on a race that had no indication of having them is just plain wacky. Sten was not the only Qunari we met in the game. What about Jarvy and Tenanga at the Pearl? Or the other assorted Qunari mercenaries through out? Not a doggone one had horns! What's next? Deadpool gonna have optic bla........oh. I mean Indiana Jones gonna be battling alien......no, wait, wait...I know, 10 foot dwarves!

The point is you are already making a big creative change by dictating the race of our character for one example. I think the Qunari are hardcore enough given the dialogue and backstory for the Qunari, but to explain that some Qunari have horns, some do not, that dog just don't hunt son. All I gotta say is, you better have a pretty dang good story and even better game play or you risk alienating your core fan base.

Right except unlike Vulcans which by now we know an awful lot about, the Qunari are still mysterious. Which means the writers can say whatever they want about them and we kind of have to take their word on it. Untill we know otherwise maybe when Qunari turn 53 they sprout wings and fly back to wherever they come from. I mean if right after we were introduced to Spock we learned there were other vulcans that were pimps we couldn't really have said anything about it, we didn't know enough to say it was impossible.

Honestly I don't see how the change in qunari is a big creative change. Its a change in art style and its been done for good reasons.

Ok, so we should have elves without pointy ears but instead a horn like a unicorn? Like I said, we saw over a hundred Qunari in the game, they all looked the same to me. You mean to tell me that no one in Thedas has seen one with horns in 300 years? Read the codex. We know that there are Golems that look different in Thedas, and how do we know? We seen them. Why not put horns in a dwarf? Because putting them on a dwarf would be silly, but putting them on a Qunari is ok just because it makes him look even more bad a**.

Actually my example was meeting Spock in the first episode, then finding out some vulcans are pimps in the next episode. Would you not be shocked by that? I'm not talking about impossibility, I'm talking about probability and believability. If they would have said this in the first game, or even just mentioned it I would not be writing this.

Obviously there's a point at which such changes do matter, which David Gaider even referred to in one of his posts, but they've got a good reason for making the change and have come up with a reasonable ingame explanation. Like he said with elves they are constrained by tradition but the Qunari are entirely their creation. I guess you could interpret their portrayal so far as having some inconsistencies with the explanation but like I said its just not a big enough change in the game to matter to me, especially if they are doing it to improve the game.

Not really I mean it's not like we get a run down of the entire Vulcan civilisation at first meeting. Just enough to kind of understand this guys deal, and in DA Sten is terribly closed mouthed. He'd be unlikely to just blurt out "Oh by the way most of my people have horns, none of the ones your likely to meet but y'know the ones back home." It wouldn't be necessary for the warden to know that and the warden would never think to ask because Qunari are mysterious hell most people from Ferelden have never seen one before, it's likely all the ones we have seen are the same kind as Sten and were sent out into the world for the same purpose only to decide they didn't want to go back.

As for the Vulcan pimps I wouldn't be shocked but I'd want an explenation in their context for vulcans. And  who's to say they don't have them, maybe someone to manage vulcan courtesans who's purpose is to stop male vulcans that have no mate from going crazy when that Pong/something mating thing is going on.

First we don't get to choose a race, then they stick horns on the Qunari, what's next? I hope you ae right, I hope this is to enhance the game itself, though I do not see how sticking horns on them serves a purpose. I will concede that Morrigan referred to Sten as a creature when they first met in Lothering.  And then again you see how interpretation is done in Vampire lore. Some folks write them as day walkers, those who actually care about the integrity of the genre do not.

I see them tinkering with something that already works. New characters is fine (though I hate that I will not have my warden), but I like the look and the art already, nearly everyone else does too. You make dramatic changes like changing the physiology of a species and it just seems like they are trying too hard, which makes me worry about the story itself and if they will be relying on bells and whistles to carry it.

Wow! Qunari with horns?? I guess there still weren't enough horned critters in DA.. Why not rename the title too? Perhaps "Age of horns" will do.

This is starting to sound like one of those terrible Hollywood remakes where a bunch of coke-induced producers throw consistency and believability out the window for "creative" freedom.
