It seems that these changes were not made for the fans of Origins... those that have played the game, but for those who didn't play it. And that is disappointing. It's like you are saying to the long time fans, the ones who have been loyal all along, that they aren't enough for you and as such, they will be balled up and thrown in the trash.

I am a fan of Origins as well as a longtime player of BioWare games--since the first Baldur's Gate game, in fact.  I am not perturbed by DA2.Image IPB  I'm also not the only one.

That would of been more epic if the person you quoted had written "I hate the new DA2 system, and I'm not the only one". Because, you know, saying that more people like/dislike something is the same thing as a vocal majority.

Well, i ,for one, was rather dissapointed on how Sten was pictured in the game, compared to the cinematics. Also, the fact that Morrigan's AI didn't include shapeshifting also was a bit dissapointing. But, still, i'm curious on what will happen in the sequel. I'll keep my savegames somewhere safe, so i don't end up like i did in Mass Effect 2, with the council, and Kaidan dead. Because in Awakening, at the end, you have possibility to choose to either free the minds of the darkspawn by helping the Architect or destroy both him and the Mother. (i killed them both, i prefer fighting a horde of darkspawn every now and then, than having them use complex tactics and stuff like that).

Why such a deistic change to the Qunari? They look much more demonic now and basically look more like Darkspawn ogres, even less friendly then before,Sten was already as big and scary as it is.

From the way Sten looked its a pretty big overhaul imo,the new Ounari look less mortal and more like demons or darkspawn, with the horns, claws and body tattoos doesn't really look like something that you would have as part of your party, more like something your party would be killing,I doubt this new Ounari even likes cookies for one.

Looking more like Ogres makes sense since Qunari broodmothers give birth to Ogres.

They look a little too much like the Ogres now, thats what I'm not all that crazy about, the Darkspawn are the dark reflections of the races of Dragon Age,this new Qunari looks just like an evolved Ogre,in the end it doesn't really matter all that much the model looks pretty cool over all,I'm saying is the Qunari were already dark as it is why take it to the extreme?

I kind of like the distinction of the new qunari design in a few ways. The horns are a nice touch, I kind of wish they were more subtle though. And it would be nice if the skin was bronze as in the DA:O description, but maybe the concept art qunari is wearing a white base ritual body paint along with the red? Who knows...

If qunari were redesigned to make them look more seperate from the other races, and now look more ogre-like, can we expect elves to look more shriek-like? It's a bit of a jump in logic but we are grasping at straws here since dwarves and elves are also taking a slow walk back to the drawing board. Let's hope elves aren't suddenly tall, gangly creatures with elongated heads and fangs.

So i felt It might be fun to sign up and comment on this thread since, during my brief perusing of all your fine comments I noticed a fair amount of negativity. I thought I would voice my opinion as someone who has enjoyed every bioware game since KOTOR (i didn't have a good enough computer in the baldur's gate days).

The qunari in Dragon Age origins felt very uninspired to me. Personally I hated having Sten in my party simply because, while the ideas of qunari culture were interesting, i found his design to be pretty boring; in fact i didn't even really realize that they were supposed to be a non-human species.

The new design in this game peaks my interest and while my initial reaction to the art style change was pretty negative I find the more i look at the screen shots the more I'm warming to it. The Qunari in particular seem fresh and interesting for me. I really enjoyed DAO and while I would be happy with a direct sequel with little changes like upgraded texture work and such, I'm really happy that we're getting a new take on the same world.

sten design is a failure, this new creation and adding horn notion is also a failure.

DRAGON AGE ==> come ON, what can be produced magically in an age full of DRAGONS?

of course dragon lance did it better.

THERE ARE A RACE OF DRAGON PEOPLE.

qunari is just a good try seriously but fail to get to the point. fantasy world never short of race creation and culture in the 1st place pe say.

what bioware should do is NOT to invent a new irrelevant race, but to think logically what is produced.
even a darkspawn party member will be 1gazillion more interesting than 1 single qunari...

I don't like the new look. That new Qunari looks like a mini-ogre or something.

With that said, it kind of complements the lore because ogres come from Qunari broodmothers.

I like the design. I always thought Sten just looked like a grumpy, sour-faced human with too much testosterone and a really bad hair cut. A re-design to aesthetically separate them as their own species sounds like a good idea to me, i don't see what all the complaining is about...

Yep I know what you mean the appearance of it isnt bad exactly, its just not a Qunari..... still least judging by the very top of the hands on the render they ditched the claws.... i think they have anyhow hard to tell where it cuts off.

Oh and Ogres have horns therefore Qunari might have horns is a bit....... half-arsed.

Shall dwarves have tentacles and elves have facial genitalia and a thorax? You know, so you can seperate them as a species.

You know, I actually think that the standpoint, "Most Qunari have horns, some do not, for various reasons..." makes a lot of sense.

We're talking about a race that hates 'wasting' materials, so when they conquer a civilization, they don't wipe it out, they indoctrinate it into their own.  We're also talking about a race that breeds for superiority (whether it's warriors, farmers or bakers) so throughout the years, they've likely breeded with the various races (humans, dwarves, elves...) to get the 'best mix' for each 'job'.

From that standpoint, it's very easy to see how someone like Sten could be born without horns.  'Unpure' bloodlines and all that.

The idea of Qunari chopping their horns upon leaving their people also makes sense.  People have already stated here that the 'new' Qunari look like ogres with their horns, but that you can hardly tell their difference from humans without them (they just sort of look like... giants.)  From this standpoint, it makes sense that they'd lose them in order to better blend in and avoid persecution.

Remember before DA:O came out, Sten's concept art picture. He didn't look at all like that in the game. Maybe this new Sten is also just an artist's concept and will change too. I hope.

I wonder if I shouldn't add the new qunari to this thread as well.
