Yeah I'm mostly concerned about the Elves...I hope they don't put those massive Night Elf ears on that make you wonder how they manage to put a shirt on.
Changing a non-playable race is one thing, but convincing people who played as Elves and Dwarves that their characters should have looked totally different is something else entirely.

How 'bout they give elves beetle wings and razor-sharp claws and cyborg eyes.
Would make for some good drama if the (elven) Warden reappears in future installments.

Elves: Monster! Freak! Go away!

Warden: Whoa, what the archdemon happened to you guys? I swear you looked a lot more like me a couple years ago...

*behind the scenes, the Dragon Age design team abandons themselves to long fits of evil laughter*

Okay guys, relax.

I thought about it for a while, and then suddenly realized that this is concept art.

If you don't understand, look at the DAO development sketches for LelianaAlistair (!), Zevran (!!!) and Sten himself. I think the qunari won't look quite as... excessive... as we fear they may be.

Basically, let us not trust concept art.

Good point in bringing that up

THe thing that bugs me about this is the fact that they're changing everything visually. FLemeth looking different is ok, since she is a shapeshifter. But stuff like this really sinks my enthusiasm. It looks fine technically speaking, but it looks nothing like any Qunari we saw in Origins.

I'm guessing they'll change up Lothering into some booming metropolis now or Morrigan will have a shaved head and look like a goth vampire now too...cause you've got to "hot rod" that art!

c´mon Brock you whine everthing about DA2.

"Qunari seem the most dramatic because you only ever saw Sten in Dragon Age: Origins.”

Bull****. We saw lots of Qunari in Origins. All the Mercs you fought, the ones from Stens Dream, the merchant in Awakening. Oh bioware, you so crazy.

I guess I could see some changes for Elves. Traditionally, they are lithe and fair and graceful...in Origins they sorta just looked like skinny humans with pointy ears. It would actually be pretty interesting to see that beauty and grace clashing with the poverty and squalor of the Alienages.

I like the stylization, but I have my qualms over this being the new Qunari look. Or an added look.

It squicks me mostly due to the demonic-style of their look. Being an all dark-skinned people... now going in a demonic look... The association that can be made. That's what bothers me.

Qunari who leave the Qun also (conveniently) remove their horns for reasons unknown. The merchant and Sten's comrades were probably more of the "special" hornless Qunari.

Besides the red paint, shirtlessness, and the fact that he's completely jacked, I don't see that much of a resemblance. The tattoo designs are way different, for example. And I don't see Kratos sprouting any horns.

Don't like it. Really hope they aren't going to make elves and dwarves different as well.

Image IPBImage IPBThat would be really cool.  You're right, the humans, qunari, and elves all looked the same for the most part.  And I had such trouble trying to make a good-looking elf female in the CC.

I don't know if I'd say "hot," per se (my sexual insecurity forbids it), but it definitely looks pretty bad-ass. It's just such a departure from what Sten looks like that it's taking some time to sink in.

Ok.. Ok.. I can tolerate a change to the Qunari. It isnt that bad for the continuity of the game world. We really did see few Qunari, and if horns are a rarity, and thats warpaint, then i can see it working.

However...

I will be completely turned off if Elves and Dwarves have any real changes made. For the same reasons Occam listed. The Qunari were unplayable, anyway. But to go onto play DA2 and find out my elf warden from DA:O and all of its extra content doesnt fit in with the new 'canon' Elf, is.. entirely frustrating.

Otherwise i welcome the change.

we only saw sten-like qunari in dao because there was only one model for qunari npcs, that's why.

also my question again: how do horned people wear full helmets? can we use hawke's helmets with qunari companions?

Yup, all the qunari in DAO were clones of Sten, which was odd when he is shown in the Fade during the Circle Tower quest with 2 of his squad.

I imagine the same way humans could wear 'Dwarven' armour without it being expanded in game, it will just change to fit.

Huh. I like the horns; it give the qunari a little something extra, and if we actually see both horned and unhorned qunari then it isn't a retcon, just an expansion on the lore. Really, the only thing I kinda dislike is that it appears that qunari are no longer bronzed-skinned, which was supposed to be one of the races defining features (or is he just completely covered in body paint?).

On an unrelated note, it's interesting that they could change that guy that much, and still have him be unmistakably a qunari. Even if I hadn't been told what he was, I would have still guessed him to be qunari-derived in some way. I think it's something in the face.

What troll reference? Both pictures look very similiar and in fact I would call the art style as well as look of the character very identical. Kratos doesn't have horns(obviously he is not as exxxtreme!) but both the red tattoo and gray skin as well as muscular build are present. He looks very similiar.
