Pretty bland basically.
I like the differentiation.

The whole Sten/envoy thing is ingenious though.
I also like the white skin on oh so very large horned one in the trailer. Makes him look waaaaay better in my opinion, contrasts so very well with the pure white hair. I wonder if it's a byproduct of him being a mage, are there lots of white/brown/red/demonic/etc qunari that just don't leave the cities much? Or perhaps the ones without horns all look like sten with bronze skin and no horns(hence the legends).
As a side note, seeing this concept art http://dragonage.wik...:Qunari_DA2.png makes me want a female qunari in my party. Mmmmm horns.

as for explaining why some have horns and others do not.. maybe a caste system is in place within qunari society where those with horns are considered more powerful or "pure" (much like old East Indian caste system where those with light brown skin were considered more pure than those with dark skin who were considered unclean)
or maybe some cross breeding between humans and qunari (since they have been in human lands for quite a few years now), this could explain Sten (also could explain his crazy devotion to qunari morals "trying to prove he is qunari at heart" and not a half breed like other qunari think of him, trying to gain acceptance)
David Gaider would have more of an idea than me.. but just some ideas... when you have an open imagination anything is possible, and not every little detail needs a scientific explaination

actually i think it was mentioned that the Qunari in Stens Nightmare were just copies of himself.Solidbebe wrote...
Over ten different Qunari could actually be seen, first ofcourse Sten. But in the mage's tower in the fade, you can see Sten's companions. Also you can encounter Qunari mercenaries a lot of times in the game. So if all qunari suddenly look like this (which they problaby dont) then it would be a hole in the story.

The Qunari are not considered human yet they look like big humans... OH NOES they don't look as human anymore! Damn, I didnt want different races to look unique. This is a welcome change, there is now more distinction between this race, and hopefully more with the other 2 races as well.
It always bothered me that the Qunari looked exactly like humans, but in-fact were not considered humans. And now, it actually makes since why an Ogre has horns all the sudden just cause his mother was a Qunari broodmother.
This is a new lore, a new world, and possibly and hopefully an extended and full of life franchise(the next best thing since Forgotten Realms/Planescape/Warhammer/ect), give it time to grow, you babies.

Qunari live in a caste system. Someone born to a warrior is agoing to be a warrior and so on and so forth..
You're thinking of dwarves
I'll stick with Mr. Gaider's explaination of the horned qunari. It makes sense:David Gaider wrote...
You do know that humans come in different colors, right?mdfitz2 wrote...
thats just body paint right they are still the same color as sten rightDavid Gaider wrote...
It may be genetic-- I'm hesitant to get into a discussion of genetics in fantasy races, but certainly the Talmassrans selectively breed qunari and from the nature of qunari society it might not be too far a stretch to suppose that they breed them to suit their roles more closely.mione wrote...
Mr.Gaider I was wondering if it's not too soon or too much of an spoiler could you please explain the difference between an horned and unhorned Qunari? is it something akin to genitics like maybe different races of qunari like the difference between an Caucasian person and an Asian person?
Hornless qunari are not rare freaks of nature-- simply uncommon. Most of the Ben-Hassrath are hornless, for instance, and thus your average qunari might be forgiven for thinking that a lack of horns is very intimidating.
We don't know a whole lot about the qunari. So to say "this is not how they are.." about the horned qunari after only seeing a handful of the ones in DA:O is jumping the gun. We've seen alot more humans, elves and dwarves than qunari and even then,
there might be variations amongst them in other parts of Thedas.I'm going to repeat what others have said; the Ogres are qunari darkspawn and they have horns.Do the horns just come along with being a darkspawn? No. Why? Because Hurlocks,Genlocks and Shrieks don't have them. This supports the idea that some qunari are born with them.Just because we haven't seen them yet doesn't mean they don't exist.
I like the fact that the qunari are a bit obscure.I like surprises.
I always think that a Gorilla is like a cousin to me, thanks mr. Gaider...
What the F..K is that explanation? Something like racial traits are not so dramatic like the canghes in Qunari appearance. And we havve seen a lot of Qunari mercenaries in the previous game... Are all of them casually special?? I'm pretty sure the Qunari in DA 2 will be an opponent, and they will be only horned... They need to put some cooler demon like opponent, so they changed the Qunari to appeal people and they are making silly excuses for the change... That's all.
No genetic, no other reason... They needed a cooler opponent, they chose Qunari to fill the role and change them to fit the idiotic wish of childish people who want to beat some monsters instead of an human-like race....

Indeed. I'd love to see the original concept art for the qunari, but I suspect BioWare would worry about confusing people.

I think there was a link somewhere. Although my favourite is our PC and what might have been Morrigan in the temple at Haven in the old Aurora engine preview.
Old engine DA:O is made of win.
