I can't believe a 3d engine does not have a scaling factor in it. Quarians are shorter than humans and should have been shown as such through the whole game. Correcting that now will just make it look odd.

CryEngine 2 and 3 allow for scalable animation skeletons, UE3 does not. <_< (Or at least, not without any adjustments)

Scaling has been a basic function of 3d since before I even started playing with it. And that was long ago. To fail to add that into a game engine is just unbelievable.

Oh well, it's not that I mind being able to look into Tali's eyes without looking down I do happen to like women shorter than I am a bit more :) My wife is only 5'4 and I'm 5'11.

Where did you get that Quarians are shorter?
Also Turians, Elcors and Hanars are taller and and Volus shorter.

From the Mass Effect Wiki.
"Quarians are generally shorter and of slighter build than humans."
First line under biology.

They do have helmet so it looks like they are higher.

This isn't about the meshes, it's about the animation skeletons "fitting" properly. (Which is considerably more difficult)

And yes, either Tali being a bit shorter than Shepard, or visibly being taller than other quarians would be nice. ^_^

Those helmets adds about two-three inches at best.

In the novels, the quarians were, what, a whole foot shorter than the average human?

Heard from somewhere (I think I read it in the old threads) that Quarians are supposed to be ME's version 'elves' so to speak.

Something in the line of night elves from warcraft of the like...

Turians are tall, Elcors are tall? I think its just their build that makes them tall. The codex said they were squishy, could kill them if they fall. Hanars...would those feelers be considered 'legs'? They are tall on ground, never seen one on water. Volus are fat and short...cute.

Somewhat OOT, but can't help wondering...
What would the reaction of the rest of you guys when ME3 came out and finally reveals Tali's face (which is absolutely cute/gorgeous)? I'd want to see the reaction of the haters and the trolls when she turns out to be hotter than (insert other LI here) .

Although personally, I think the face should only be shown to those who romanced her in ME2:wub:

Your right Thunder, they would have had to actually put effort into creating a separate anim for each race. What a job, to have to spend hours just manipulating Tali's body so it fit perfectly with Shepard's.

Quarians really strike me as more Space-Dwarfish than Space-Elfish. But I don't like comparing sci-fi races to fantasy races anyway.

Indeed, drop it.
Or I'll post pics of Tali snuggling with Kasumi/VGQ/Lia/Jona's mom.

Don't think I won't do it! D:<

Honestly, the thought of Tali having to stand on her tip-toes to yell at Garrus or Shepard is probably the funniest thing I've imagined this morning.

Well, for one thing, I hope I'm taller than her at 6' 11". (That's 2.11m, right?) :D
It'd look freaking adorable. (My GF's at 1.96m, and even she has to tiptoe occasionally, cute as heck)

Kinda like that Tali cosplayer amongs the crowds, short Tali is cute.

Yeah, that was pretty funny.

That would make the toe bounce even more adorable, if she stood right next to Shepard while she's doing it.

Whoah. Being this as offtopic as it can...
Thundertactics... 2,11m?
WHOAH. I'm 1,58 (5'2", if I'm not wrong). God, you made me feel really short now. I've got serious trouble reaching my boyfriend who's 1,84 (6'0" - do you have to write the 0 too?).

Okay. I'll go back to the shadows now. Wow.

Reposting cause I can :)

TALI

The migrant fleet was once her home,
no planet neath her feet.
Her race was cast unto the stars,
her home lost in defeat.
To most would seem a hopeless life,
no reason to go on.
But love of life brings happiness,
and dreams to wish upon.
Trapped within an unfeeling cloth,
it's easy to grow cold.
Unable to even touch a leaf,
or have anothers hand to hold.
Yet deep within her life long prison,
there lives a shining soul.
Her will to help all those in need,
no matter what the toll.
No one has seen this person yet,
though she stands a step away.
A helm to hide her face from all,
for reasons she'll not say.
Thinking only for the others,
her pain she holds inside.
Her caring, sharing and selflessness,
shows a heart no mask can hide.

The reason she is standing on her tip-toes in the squad selection screen is because she doesn't want to be shorter than everyone else (I do this in real life. Shutup)

I'm Dutch.
But yeah, I'm considered "above average", obviously.
And before anyone asks, yes, I do play basketball. (No, not professionally, does a guy who plays videogames and dwells on forums as much as I do seem like the type who'd dedicate his entire schedule to sports? (Though I do train 4 times a week (3 times for an hour, once for 90 minutes), and go to the gym every sunday))

Now, back to Tali on tiptoes.

As do I, but it appears to be the general consensus.

Oh well.

And you seem to be up early, Rip. (Though that could just be my imagination, I can't really tell from the top of my head how late it is over where you live. Me and my silly GMT +1 timezone.)
