No glowing eyes. That would just be silly. Biologically, it wouldn't work. Especially if our theories are right and quarians are evolved predators. Reflective properties similar to a cat's would make sense though.

It honestly doesn't matter if they're tapetum lucidum or bioluminescent, both would mess up the center of your vision equally. (In fact, bioluminescence has a smaller chance of doing this, as the more consistent exposure would allow them to adapt more appropriately. Hence why noone has ever manufactered a hyper reflective CMOS sensor, but backlit ones are suddenly all the rage.)

Besides, geth have heavily backlit eyes too, these might've been based on the way their creators eyes work.

Better idea.

It's GAME DESIGN.

The eyes are lit up so you can see them better. They weren't really lit up in the first game, for example.

Same for the geth. It's a design choice. I just go with the visors being completely opaque in-universe. Makes more sense.

Yep. Now that we have established that, let's move on.

I'm sorry, but I don't like it when people are saying: "Dude, you should totally nail this Miranda/Jack chick instead of Tali for once. Why? Just do it!"

That's not exactly the motivation I need. When I saw Tali, then it just clicked. I wanted to do her romance.
I don't feel that way about Miranda/Jack.
I'm not going to do a different romance playthrough just because someone told me to, when I can just put aside ten minutes ad watch it on YouTube.

Just like that crapfest on FF.net from mizutanitony. That fic makes me froth at the mouth I hate it so bad. If you are going to twist and warp the characters as badly as happens in it's fic, then just write about your own goddam characters.

Wouldn't call any characters in that fic twisted or warped. It takes place over a period of years and I actually like some of the developments.

Also, you don't have to read something you don't like. Insulting a good writer just because you don't like their interpretation of a character is not intelligent in my opinion.

I am sorry, but breaking it off with Shepard and immediately jumping in the sac with a female?  I draw the line. I stopped reading at the next chapter, since it got worse.

But you won't roleplay a Miranda or Jack romance to see how it goes? Youtube steals a lot from you.

Not badgering you, Nuke, just uhh you know...tryin to figure out how I'm gunna do this lol

You know, I haven't got a lot of time to myself.  So I've found that my willingness to experiment and dick around with games has gone way down over the years.  I'll get started on something and end up feeling like, "geez, I could be enjoying this more if I was doing it the right (to me, let me emphasize) way."

I have to say, that while I'd actually give Jack a shot, if I had like an entire week to myself or something, I'm just flat out not interested in Miranda.  There's something in my brain that's loose or whatever, because she's not pushing any buttons for me.

Also, I somewhat resent the implication in the posts that I'm somehow portraying Tali OOC.  You know me better than that.

When have you portrayed her OOC?

Wut.
Tali had months to develop feelings for Shep in ME1, and two years after he died. How is that rushed?

In my opinion Tali's is the LEAST rushed, not only because of the post above, but other reasons. Don't forget that not only did she initiate it, but she also said, if I'm correct, that the kind of Quarian relationship she was looking for with Shepard culturally required intimacy. She also put it off long enough for her to be safe about it, and so did Shepard. (By the way we have no idea what actually went on in Shepard's cabin, they could've just kissed, who knows; although I personally don't think so ;))

Additionally, taking off the mask in the presence of another is the highest form of trust a Quarian can show. She obviously didn't rush anything if she was willing to do that.

By the way this thread moves way too fast for me to keep up with. This is a good thing though. B)

Well, yeah, I get the fact that for BioWare it's aesthetics.
But if someone goes all "Noes it doesn't make biological sense!" on me, I will respond appropriately, don't you back down on me!
Besides, aesthetically, I'd think constantly glowing eyes would look better, and it would look more appropriate for those less well versed in biology. ("Huh? Weren't Tali's eyes all glowy 'n stuff?" when she takes off her mask and they end up being hyper reflective)

And it is a consistent element throughout Bioware's concepts, though the eyes themselves weren't always glowing, just some elements of her mask/helmet:

one possible explanation for the glowing eye theory is comparing the glowing eyes of quarians to the angler fish's predatory tactics. its likely that glowing eyes were meant to attract prey much like the little glowing bulb of the angler fish's

Respectable. Again, I was sorta just hung up on your use of the word "pining", even though it's generally true, it makes her seem...weak. As if not romancing her would be more detrimental than it has to be. Idk, that's just me.

The reason that angler fish have a glowing bulb is because if it was their eyes glowing, they'd have trouble seeing.

The hood and the envirosuit for me. I'll admit it.

I dig chicks with hoods. Masks? Even better. Add belts, straps, and the perfect ass? I'm sold.

I meant more in how the romances just seem to go by too fast (in like two-three conversations and the romance scene after that)

I don't think it's going to work when there are a ton of other light sources around her.

And I'm fairly sure that tactic is used in the dark depths of the oceans for a reason.Posted Image

Do you dig Japanese chicks with hoods who are kleptomaniacs?
