I don't see any proof for that speculation.

The impression I got from her dialogue in ME1.   Fuzzy, since it has been a long while.  But thatw as the impression I came away with from ME1.  This was compounded by the Tali's loyalty mission in ME2.

See, the impression I got from her "Admiral's daughter needs a good gift" convo was that this was something she was placing on herself.  She mentions that a poor stigma can result from a poor gift, but that's something that falls on her, not him.  Especially since they don't have hereditary leadership (same conversation, I think).

Can you be more specific RE: the ME2 mission?

Tali states it directly on the alerai, if you are a heartless bastard.  Thanks to Sergio for the video.

Tali: "Of course he did.  Every time he went off to battle.  Every time he sent me away.  It was all about what he wanted."
Tali: "Instead, I got orders.  And this.  And a panel of admirals who think I am a traitor.  Those were my fathers gifts to me."

I rest my case.

So in other words, 'what constitutes life?'  I'll pass on this impending ****storm

Its pretty clear that Xen is an extremist by her intentions of rising to galactic power, risking her entire race in the process.  Whether or not she is justified in her own mind isn't relevant really.

Can't say I blame you - but one of these days our own society is likely to face that very question.

I don't know that Xen is risking everything by acting.  In just 100 years, the fleet fails, and the Quarians die.  She may be asking whether her people will be any stronger tomorrow than they are today, and proposes a grand gamble for the ultimate stakes.

Is it better to go down in a quick blaze of glory, or to slowly die off one failed ship at a time?  Tough to say.

True, and I do find the discussion at least peripherally interesting, I just haven't put the thought into it to discuss it on any real level, and when it does come up on this thread (which happens often,) it usually escalates pretty quickly.

As far as the rest, that's not what Xen is proposing.  That's what Gerrel is proposing.  Xen doesn't want the homeworld back/the geth gone.  She wants to re-establish the quarians as a galactic power by taking control of the geth and returning the quarians to the position that they were in before the geth rebelled the first time.  I get the feeling that if the geth offered peace, and that they would go off to star system 15 and live in complete seclusion, the quarians get Rannoch, that Xen wouldn't agree to that plan.  The other admirals (and pretty much every quarian,) would take this offer.  This is why she's an obstacle to peace.

As far as the admirals' plans, assuming reclaiming Rannoch wasn't an option, I'd say Shala's plan of maintaining the status quo is probably the best plan for now, but eventually, they would have to back Korris.  Dying in a ball of flames in a hopeless war doesn't really appeal to me.  That said, I see peace happening pretty easily.

Oh, even Harbinger has more votes than Jacob. Must really suck for those who likes him. All seven of them.

Go Garrus go!

But really, is it too much to ask for both?

I'm hoping for both, plus Legion.  And maybe Thane.

Well, it seems that discussion has died down a bit. Havea repostan! minificm since it is cheery!
-----------------
Dining In
-----------------
I think everything is right. Hope Garrus was right, Shepard thought to himself. He looked around the cabin. Cleaned and sterilized. Check. Lighting lowered for a more intimate atmosphere. Check. He looked over at the two plates.

Both were sealed in a sterilized bubble. Straight from a restaurant on the Citadel. After checking over some of the food tube Tali seemed to prefer, Shepard had ordered their equivalents from a quality turian restaurant. Then sterilized and sealed before delivery to the ship. He hoped it worked.

"Decontamination Complete."

Shepard looked up as Tali entered their cabin. With Ken and Gabby still off ship on leave, he knew she would be tired. He hoped his surprise would put a smile on her face.

"Hey beautiful," he said to his quarian as the commander stood to greet her. "Long day?"

Tali nodded tiredly as she walked further into the cabin. She stopped, when she saw the settings. "John?"

He smiled. "I figured you could use a good meal. And, it's been a while since we had a chance to just relax together."

Glance softening, her gaze turned warm. "That sounds nice. Let me get out of this suit, and I'll join you." She headed to the wardrobe and pulled a garment out. As she passed on her way to the bathroom, she caressed her commander on the shoulder.

He chuckled; ever since Mordin had confirmed her adaption to both himself and their cabin, Tali almost always got out of her suit as fast as possible. Not that he blamed her.

Hearing the door open, he looked up. And stared. The lithe engineer had opted to wear the white dress shirt that came with the suit he wore on Bekenstein. And, from what he could tell, nothing else.

Shepard could feel his face flushing, and had to resist the urge to adjust himself. For all the times he had seen her dress like this - it seemed his shirts were her preferred clothing outside of her suit - it never failed to stir his passions and warm his heart.

"See something you like, Captain?" She purred out as she sauntered closer.

"Only you," he answered. He visibly fought with himself to return his gaze to her eyes where it had been locked on her smooth legs. He held out a hand.

"Join me for dinner, miss Vas Normandy?"

She took his hand and let her captain lead her to the couch. She sat, and he joined her on the couch. With as much flair as he could, he opened both of the trays, revealing the food. Her reflective eyes widened.

"John?"

He smiled. "I pulled a couple of strings. I hope you like it Tali."

With a smile of her own, she grabbed a utensil and grabbed a bite of the food. Her eyes widened. After swallowing, she grabbed a larger bite before turning to him.

"This tastes even better than the rations I normally eat!"

"Glad you like it," Shepard replied, digging in to his own meal.

Due to the sterilization, it was a little bland, but still better than what Gardner could normally produce. They ate in companionable silence, broken only by Tali's occasional exclamation of delight in her meal. When they were finished, Shepard took the plates and took them to the disposal in the restroom.

Returning to the main room, he found Tali laid out in the bed, curled around one of the pillows. Her eyes watched him, a predatory gleam in her eyes as he joined her on the bed.

"What now, John?" she asked "However can I thank you for such a wonderful meal?"

The human smiled softly at her. "I think first, you need a massage," he answered as he reached for one of the legs that had gotten his attention earlier. As he began to rub, Tali hmm'd her pleasure as he worked over her calf. As he grasped a foot and began neading it gently, he smirked.

"And after this," he said, warmth and desire in his voice, "dessert."

I'm not seeing how that's about him polishing his image.  The rest of time it's pretty clear that "what he wanted" was "strong Fleet for his daughter"; I don't see why the same wouldn't apply here.  Him giving her orders is not mutually exclusive to this goal.

If Xen became MORE obsessed for enslaving the Geth on ME3, what you guys think that Tali will do?

I mean more than she already is, even acting against 'em. (something she didn't do on ME2)

I don't sense any strong connection between Xen And Tali.

The only thing they have in common is that they're both quarians.

I think Tali would actually take the side of stopping Xen, because she has seen a side of the geth no one else has, and she should by that point know that there can be peace between the two races if they can just show that both sides wants it.

And in steps Xen, trying to pull a real brain-wash on the geth. That will complicate things.

In that case, I don't see Tali necessarily doing anything herself.  That's Shep's call, he's the leader, and she will follow him.  That said, I'm sure she would support stopping her at all cost.

Meh.  I said one could argue it is selfish.  I didn't say it was a good argument.  Or one I am particularly attached to.  I do think he is selfish.  More from what he wants out of Tali than from how what she does is perceived.  But that is a different discussion.  Anyway, I am bouncing.  I will return, after my quest for food is satisfied.
