Meh.

I don't expect them to come up with anything I would wear, anyway.

But I'd still buy it...

Yeah, I probably wouldn't wear the shirt, but I'd buy it.

This will likely be the path of events. At least, I expect it to be. If there would be any confrontation or acknowledgement it would require VA from Tali too... Such to say I don't expect any in the dlc.

Yeah, and I really don't see them bringing back all six of the LIs VA's just to record a few lines.

Yeah Phil I agree on both points. Peace is not only the logical solution for the universe, but also for Bioware's budget. They would have to create a whole mission or series of missions committed to fighting an all out war, thats not BW's style from what I've seen. Besides, I would love to negotiate with/through Legion and Tali to help unite the two races against the Reapers rather than have an all out bloody conflict with the (most likely) millions or billions of Geth back on the home world. That just seems silly to me.

However on the flip side, what if your actions taken in the war cause the Quarians to lose somehow? That would be interesting. Say you are assaulting the main control node for the Geth and if you shut that down all the Geth shut down or something, or are brainwashed or whatever. Say you fail but its NOT a critical mission failure. The Migrant Fleet is destroyed and basically Tali and whatever Quarians left on pilgrimage are the only Quarians left. Think of the ramifications. I would personally reload but just think of it. Anyway its probably mute since there is like a .01% chance BW will take this approach.

My first concern with any war is for Bioware to explain to me how 17 million quarians (of which I'd guess 5 million are fighting capable,) without immune systems can do something that billions of stronger quarians couldn't do against the same enemy, only less organized, and with less time to add to their numbers/weapons.

It would have to be entirely a fleet battle, and even then I have a hard time seeing it happening.

I do expect some kind of choices/actions that will lead to the reapers winning in ME3, I can't seeing it being quite as bad as the extinction of an entire race on your hands though.  Then again, I don't see the war option being on the table.  If it is, it makes sense. :?

I'd wear a Jacob shirt that said "Heavy risk" on the front and with "But the priiize" on the back.

I'm not a fan of Jacob.

But this?

I approve.

Also. Biotic God. Front says "Take nap..." and on the back "... Destroy Universe Later."

I don't expect any of the ME2 squaddies to have lines in the DLC. It would cost too much.

First chapter of the fic is up. No Tali as yet. Shep's not admitting it to anybody, but he's stalling first long as he can before recruiting her because he's terrified he'll get her killed on the suicide mission. He's also been in love with her since ME but is equally terrified of admitting his feelings.

Man... it's getting WAY to serious in here...

Can we get some D'awww? Or some humor? Or... hell... something?

I'll try to pull this off...
Need to write something anyway, see what I can pull off with *romance*

Shepard's background: Soldier (yes, the typical run-n-gun type. I like to blow shid up :P)

Recollection

The silent humm of the Normandy's engine echoed across the silent engineering deck. It has been three weeks after the attack on the Collector base did things started to return to normal for the crew of the Normandy. Repairs has been completed, and the Normandy is now running as good as it was than before.

Deep within the bowels of the engineering deck, Tali stands strong and collected as her fingers rhytmically calibrates the massive drive core and balances the output for the entire ship. Once, she'd encounter interesting conversations within an earshot thanks to Ken and Gabby, sometimes she'd caught the rustle and the curses of Jack scooting down in the lower deck of engineering after having Grunt beat her in an arm-wrestle (Keelah knows how crazy she was to face the perfect Krogan, biotics aside). Sometimes, if things gets stale, she'd visit Zaeed's Quarter to clean out the waste procurred by the crew, sometimes enjoying a story or two from the old merc.

Most of the time, however, she expects her commander to visit her or call her up to his cabin.

"Correction," she thought, smiling to herself. "Our cabin."

----

It was thirty minutes before lunch, and Gardner is preparing for his 'Today's Special'. Somthing Shepard never look forward to despite his help on improving the selects of ingredients--the thought of him not washing his hand, fixing the toilet, cleaning the counter and then cooking meals for the crew reminds him how thankful he was that Cerberus constructed the medbay across of the small kitchen counter. He was impressed, for once.

After the events involving the Collectors, Shepard has spent most of his time wandering the galaxy nonchalantly. He do receive messages from the Council and Admiral Hackett here and there, questioning his whereabouts and his activities but that never bothered him. Politely, he rejects any assignment given to him or considered upon engaging them at a feasable time.

For now, he believe, is the right time for the crew to take their well-earned shoreleave. Plotting the course towards Citadel, Shepard has sent all crew members the notice of two weeks long of shoreleave. Cheers echoed across the vessel as the ship docks in one of the Citadel wards. Within less than an hour, the Normandy was empty....

...all except the old crew.

"So..." Shepard start as he approaches Joker's seat. "You're not thinking of going outside? Enjoy Citadel? You've been through a lot, Joker. You need some rest."

Joker swivels his chair towards him, letting out his trademark grin. "I know Commander. I just feel I should stay here awhile longer; you know, EDI might get lonely."

The blue hologram pops up seconds later. "Your abscence from the bridge does not burden me, Mr. Monroe. I enjoy the sight of humans leaving my ship."

Joker twitches, raising an eye brow at her emphasis of 'my' "That is a joke."

"Yes, mom." he replies humorously, shaking his head. 'So Commander, what's up?"

"Just checking in. I'll leave you two for awhile."

The Commander turns, backs facing the pilot. Seconds later, Joker called out to his attention. "Say, Commander!"

He stops, turning his attention back to the helmsman. "I think Tali would love to see you down in engineering. You know, after all that sh*t-storm. I think she'd like an undisturbed..."

he coughs once, then twice with a humorous manner. "...quality time."

Coughing one last time let out a mocking at his commander. Shepard chuckles, dismissing the helmsman as he heads down towards the elevator.

-----

It was not to his surprise to fiind Tali still mingling with the console presented in front of her. Despite the absence of the rest of the crew, Tali did not neglect her assignment and continuously monitor the engine for any further stresses after the repairs. Diligently she shuts each systems off--or so she plans--before heading up towards the 1st floor and ask Shepard if he would like to take a walk out on the Presidium or the wards.

She plans to, of course, failing to notice the Commander behind her as he let out an embrace around her waist.

"Shepard!" she said, giggling playfully as she arches her back and reach out with her left towards his snuggling head. "What brings you here today?"

"I don't know..." he replies nonchalantly. "Maybe I just want to spend time with you...?"

She turns around, her figure gracefully locks into his and embraces him tight, resting her head against his chest and let out a loving sigh. Shepard reacts responsively, returning her embrace and rocks their embrace left and right.

For once, everything felt 'right' in their world.

"You know..." Tali said breaking their embrace. "I would've kissed you if things were...well, you know...."

"...in better circumstances?" Sheprad reply, his smile radiates kindness.

"Y-yes..." she stammers. "If it weren't because of the suit and all, I would've....well...."

"Tali..." Shepard proceeds to embrace her further, causing her to stop and return his affection. The silence between them grew as she listens to the rhytmic sound of Shepard's heartbeat. She couldn't help checking whether he's 'alive' once in awhile; a joke that ran through the old team, all thanks to Joker's effort. Shepard releases a deep sigh...

"Having you here with me, locking in this embrace is good enough for me." he pulls away, eyes lock unto hers. "Asking for more, is too much for me."

"Bosh'tet..." she reply, flustered as she pinches Shepard's abdomen. It did, to her surprise, causes him to flinch for a second. She reply playfully, "That makes me sound selfish..."

"You want me to repeat how 'you've never been selfish'?" he reply with a lighter tone, causing her to let out a chuckle. She hugs him further, locking them in an embrace that seems to last for eternity before Tali decided to break the silence. "How did we end up like this, Shepard?"

Her eyes locks up to his as her fingers ran through the lines of his face with loving strokes and caresses. "An Alliance Special Forces Marine, and a simple Quarian...how did we end up in this entanglement?"

Shepard returns a loving smile, placing his hand on hers and held it tight. He kisses it and places it back to his cheek, causing her's to burn in embarassment towards his show of emotion. He let out a sigh and began,

"Remember the time when I first met you? How you fought off Saren's assassins?"

"...How you came to rescue this 'damsel in distress'?" She replied in a joking manner. "I don't require your help at the time, Shepard..."

she let out a chuckle, then forms and embrace, once again listening to the rhythm of his heartbeat. "But I'll always remember the day I met you, Shepard. Always... "

Seconds passed as they began reminiscing their time together. Saren, the prove, Feros, Liara's digsite, Noveria, Vermire, Dr. Heart, her pilgrimage gift, Vermire, Ilos. She remembers his face, his struggle, and his determination as they walk together towards the danger they faced. He remembers her staying by his side, strong and supportive as he struggled through the time of his life before finally concluding at where they are at this point.

"I still wish I could do more for you, Tali." He said as he looked deep behind her visor, eyes locked with each other. "After all that we've went through, I wish I could give you something more. I..."

Tali giggles, pressing her finger on his lips and silence him. "I told you before, didn't I?"

"I got you."

---------

"Ahem..."

The pair breaks momentarily, looking towards the Turian in blue armor standing by the door. His figure leans towards the wall while his mandibles  stretches in glee at the sight of his two comrades. Straightening himself up, Garrus coughs jokingly.

'I was thinking of asking you two if you would like to take a stroll down in one of the wards..."

He stops, eyes fixed on both Shepard and Tali. "But I guess I barged in during your moments of...calibration. So, I'll take my leave early."

"We'll catch up later, Garrus." Shepard reply before turning his attention back to his Quarian as his buddy left the engineering floor. Behind her visor, Shepard could tell she was smiling at him.

"Shall we?" Tali suggests, "We don't want to keep Garrus waiting, do we?"

Nodding in agreement, Shepard held her hand close as the couple walks arm in arm towards the elevator, across the CIC, and out towards the great halls of Citadel Station. He doesn't care about the odd stares and dismissive look others gave him, nor does he mind them. For all he knows, the feelings and the presence of Tali beside him is enough.

"One day..." he thought to himself. "One day I'll express my love towards you, Tali."

His right hand plays and pockets the rectangular black box hidden in his pockets. Gazing at the object, a brilliant glow of gold shines from the pair of rings hidden within the box. He turns to Tali, holding her hand tighter and pulls her a little closer.

"...Shepard?"

He smiles lovingly at her, patiently waiting for the right time for him to confess his feelings towards her. For now, he is satisfied with just their stroll across the wards of Citadel Station.

My point goes along with this too, we don't know that the quarians hate the geth, and we don't know if they would forgive them.  There is no evidence that they wouldn't at least.  If the geth offered the homeworld back; a return to normal lives, no amount of hatred/stupidity is going to keep the quarians from accepting that.

One thing I've always wondered about when we discuss the quarians getting their world back via peaceful negotiations: a lot of times I see people mention the outcome of such negotiations is the agreement that the geth will simply give the quarians their homeworld back and walk away. This seems to be the big item on the table: you geth leave, we return. Added point, why wouldn't the geth leave if they have no intention of actually living and using the homeworld's resources?

I think that's an unknown among geth, the reasons why they stay. Remnant of their programming, maybe. They were designed to be workers, caretakers for their quarian masters. The quarians may be gone, but the geth's original purpose is still in the code. Also, I wonder if the destruction really does push into nuclear/chemical warfare where the geth have been working to clean up the environment that was put to waste during the war.

Or maybe they stay in the same way Legion grabs Shepard's armor. They are developing sentiment.

Anyway, so that's why I can be pessimistic even when discussing peaceful negotiations. How would the negotiations work if the geth said they would not resist the quarians' return to their homeworld, but they weren't going to leave the system either?

If the geth were working on a Jupiter Brain rather than a Dyson Sphere, I could see them simply disappearing without ever saying anything to the quarians or any other organic in the near future. A couple generations down the line and surveillance shows that there are not geth behind the Veil. Disappear. Gone. But no, they had to say it was analogous to a Dyson Sphere, not a Jupiter Brain.

As an Infiltrator, I was a tech spamming fool. Garrus, Kaidan, and Tali were always on the mission. Tali was definitely there for the Luna missions and the Armstrong Nebula missions.

It's funny, they give you that little combat/tech/biotic meter in ME1, but I never went for balanced. If I was a biotic, my squad was going to be biotic. If I was a tech, my squad was going to be tech. And as a soldier, my squad was built for maximum immunity carnage.
