Better stay on topic, guys. Now that GRAND ESCAPADES is in the thread OP, I'd rather keep it there for a while.

Why are none of my stories in the OP...?

:crying:

Because Tali doesn't love you. When do you think she started to "love" Shepard?

I think it was around the second or third conversation, where she said "You've been good to me. Most people just want us to go back to the Fleet and disappear, but not you. You've treated me like anyone else on your crew, like an equal. It's says volumes of your character."

she told me this today
I felt all warm inside:wub:

I think it was at this point that Tali went from having a "Captain Crush", and developed a great deal of respect and admiration for Shepard, as well as some deep feelings for him. She was definately interested in him in ME1 though... especially by Virmire... she makes that much clear...

Yeah, I think by the end of ME1 she begins to feel strong feelings for him. By the time the normandy is scrapped, she thinks she loves him, and after he dies the void she feels confirms it.

One of two outcomes are acceptable.
Board Lives, Geth and Quarians have peace, both join the Council, and everyone lives happily ever after.
Or, Xen takes the geth, Shepard and Tali kill the rest of the board, and weaken every other race, leaving only the humans and quarians as council races.
I'm good with either/or.

Indeed. Both outcomes are in the green as far as I am concerned.
Edit: Though I will favor one over the other if both are available....

Without having a choice? I'd be pissed as hell.

Besides. Why would Tali want to be an admiral anyway? Then she couldn't be with me.

I'm thinking a number of reasons. One, filling the Admiralty seat as a 'balance'. Two, acting as the representative for brokering peace between the Geth and the Quarians (might as well think of a plan B if Xen went nuts), Three, leading the Quarian fleet against the Reapers.

There's that possibility. Who knows? It might happen....thoughts?

then again, it could lead to dat dominatrix Tali....

Shepard: Tali! You're back! I thought you're...

Tali: *stops Shepard with a slap* Is that how you speak with an Admiral, Commander?

Shepard: ...no maam...

Tali: *pushes Shepard to the bed* should i teach you what rank and order meant, Commander?

Shepard: ...YES MAAM! B)

As I said earlier, even ignoring the relationship, she can do more for her people as a squadmate of Shepard's than on a board of useless admirals.

i prefer the latter
as i subscribe to the theory that it is better to be loved than feared (machiavelli can go to hell for all i care)

I feel like she started developing a crush on him near the end of ME1 after Shep gives her the geth data (this is assuming a non fail playthrough.)  Love would be a far way off though.  I see her feelings building a good amount through the month that we don't see after Saren's defeated, and then Shep's death probably makes her look back at the relationship even more fondly.  Once the actual relationship starts, I feel like she has a hard time initially accepting it all.  That Shep really does care for her above everything else, and coming to grips with the selfish nature of the relationship (in her mind.)  I'm not sure that that actual love comes up until Shep gives his "I don't want anyone else, I want you," line.  After that, I don't see much doubt.

While... I find that to be a VERY interesting thought.... No. I wouldn't want Tali to be an admiral, unless it's what she wanted, and I doubt that. Frankly? I'd be happy to just paragon Xen and make her chairman or something.

Actually?

Better idea. Tali joins the board to overrule a decision made by the Conclave. Overruling means she'd have to resign anyway. I'm okay with this scenario.

Tali has had some luck, but its luck that she earned.  Shep rushed to her aid because she was technologically skilled enough to rip galactically important data from a geth memory core.  She was kept on the team not out of kindness, but because she was a tech genius on top of being a badass with a shotgun.  If Shep didn't come along, Tali would have still came back with the best pilgrimage gift ever, no doubt in my mind B)

The metagame argument is that they can't make that as Tali's story, since she can be exiled in ME2.  They aren't going to make two ME3s, one with Tali on the team, and another as an admiral.  Its impossible to believably write an exiled Tali off the Normandy, I'm convinced.

As far as balancing the other admirals?  They already have the balance, no admiral could possible be as bad as Rael's views were, and they didn't kill themselves with him.  She would add nothing, while simultaneously losing the ability to broker peace between the quarians and the geth, and protect the galaxy along Shep's side.  Its a lose/lose really.

Sad part?

She's still probably one of the lucky ones...

Considering Shepard gives her her Pilgrimage gift that life changing to the Fleet.

I would say luckiest.

I wouldn't call it luck personally.  Shep owes Tali a great deal.  She's the only reason the galaxy is still in one peace at that point.  Shep not being the biggest jerk in the galaxy is hardly luck.  She earned that gift every step of the way.

I agree. I'm guessing the difference will be that if she wasn't exiled, there'll be a line of dialogue that mentions she was considered, but another Quarian was picked instead.

I wonder what her gift was if you didn't give her the geth data. :?

Not that I didn't, in fact, I did a whole new ME1 playthrough to get her the data, and to avoid a romance. Sadly, I had to nuke Ashley. I couldn't risk it. :(

Oh man. Today was just the worst sort of day; completely unproductive. Not a single thing got done. I just sat around listening to music while napping for 90% of it. Must have been the crap weather. . .

On a brighter note, Mordin:

I don't even see her being considered to be honest.  She's skilled, but she's two years removed from her pilgrimage.  I got the feeling that the admirality was a lot more based on experience and prestige, which Tali doesn't really have a ton of.  The way she says it in game just makes me think that a friend or two said casually mentioned it, not that there was any official movement to have her elected/her name put forth.  Though I could be misremembering the last part.
