I think aliens wouldn't be to different from us. All other animals have basic instincts why not them.
1) Because evolving upon another planet could impart far different 'instincts'... or none at all.
2) Sentience could come in many varieties. What if the alien race lacked empathy? Or the ability to perceive that something is funny?
That's a far strecth animals that live in the sea are like land. and that's totally different.
Comparing the Earth's animals inheirantly limits your outcomes. You simply can't do so and expect a proper range of outcomes.
For example, lets take RACE A from PLANET A. RACE A is the dominant life form on their planet, where the next largest animals are insects. PLANET A has no techtonic activity, meaning their entire planet is made up of savannah like plains.
Because they lack predators, or a dangerous enviroment, RACE A has evolved without the ability to fear other creatures. They only fear other RACE A's... because in reality their own people are the only ones who pose threats.

Animal legs? No.
Quarian legs. There's a difference.
How can you say no to those legs? Look at 'em! Those powerful thighs... perfect for powerful thrusting motions... and the toes... she could grab your ankles with them and do all sorts of freaky things. And that little toe... mmm... how can you say no to that? It's so adorable? And those shins... I could run a hand up and down those slender shins for hours... memorizing every curve...
Also. Dem sexy alien hips. <3
Sir, you almost rival my own xenophilia. Tali's strength is clearly in her legs. Who knows what wonders she could work with those contours? And those feet. Sure, only three toes, but delicacies always come in small portions.
Those toes look perfect for gripping... Mmmmm... the things you could do... and those shins? Perfect for hooking around behind Shepard's... drawing him closer... and those thighs...
My god...

I don't think Bioware will be willing to take the "Furry" connotations that would fall upon Tali and her community as a whole.
Although it would be a crowning moment of awesome for those who hate this community.
I doubt Tali has fur.
I stand by smooth, small plates, at the most. Either that, or skin like ours.

Disagree. The reasons humanity came to be the dominate form (and thus sentient) of life on Earth are threefold:
1) We grew up on Land.
2) We utilize oxygen for breathing.
3) Our atmosphere is thick and (relatively) gentle.
If you change any of these three factors, you could have wildly different results. But they could still evolve to a technologically proficient culture.
Statistically speaking, there are just too many variables for us to assume that Alien life will look/act/think like us.

It is unknown whether quarians have hair, though I don't think the suit is much of a hassle. They are much more advanced than we could imagine, accomodating hair is hardly as tough as a lot of other things the suits do.

Good point with the slight change. It could have drastic results. But you would think the pysche would be one of universal results though, right? It's like time.RedTracer7 wrote...

Unknown, but I prefer to say no. If they do, I would assume they would cut it short and not think about it much, since it's hardly a fashion statement under the helmet. But I personally hope there's something a little more alien under there.

There are 500 billion plus stars estimated in the Milky Way galaxy. The number of planets orbiting around those stars, is unknown. However, with the possibilities and probabilities, 2.5 million could be a very, very low number compared to what there may actually be.MTN Dew Fanatic wrote...
