Anyone have theories as to why Tali favors a shotgun?

I agree that a shotgun is a logical choice for close quarters combat, inside a ship. I do think, however, that a shotgun is WAY too manly for a girl to carry it around. A sub-machine gun would be a more logical choice, considering the kickback of both weapons.

I would like to see Tali carrying a Knife, a Pistol and a sub-machine gun. :D

tali has a knife, but just don't use it

Tali +  Pistol + Knife  + Close Quarters =  Win

Because clearly, no romance can ever continue without peridoical sex.

Hey, I didn't say you weren't going to have a romance, just that you weren't going to get any sex.

I was actually surprised they even did.

We don't know if they did it. Remember, Tali mentions that the infections are area-based. Tali had a bad cough and sinus infection.

Why not? Tali got sick their first time, and she was STILL happy. Totally worth it, remember? And besides, the more time they spend together, the less of a reaction there will be. I don't follow your logic at all.

She got sick afterwards. And she'll feel better and the cycle can continue.

Just commenting on the perpetual nature of being sick. Cuddling is a given, but I'm just saying don't expect the woman to take it to the next step. But hey, there are guys out there who are cool with the cuddles only. For awhile.

Well, it's one way to bolster an immune system. And I suppose both parties are happy with it...

Should send a memo to the flotilla.

Migrant Fleet Bulletin: Improve immune system: Mingle with humans.

Humanity: Give us yer wimminz.

Now I understand why we hardly ever see female aliens and why humans are disliked. The only other race where we do see the women, quarians, they are lusted for on the internet. Alien men hate competition.

Adressing the shotgun question, I don't think she's meant to be used at long range or even for direct damage so much. Seems more of a last resort if an enemy gets through the line past her cover, and she's better used just for support powers (hacking a tough synthetic, using the drone to distract enemies, or sapping shields off of a tough foe).

From kissing and smelling Shepard, of course.

Well, you have a point. You know I've put up with a lot of **** in the name of science. Can assume Tali would do the same... Though we're talking distinctly different science experiments here.

As things seem to be going south with this thread again, you'd better start making tracks now.

...I probably should too.

I might be wrong, but a kinetic barrier would drop way faster with a rapid firing weapon.

Of course they aren't going to go at it when she's still recovering. Shepard can wait. Doesn't mean they can't just spend the night holding eachother while she gets over her reaction. You don't need to have sex every single night for romance to work.

Yeah, it's like theirs an alien golden rule.

"Leave your wife/girlfriend at home, locked away, for a human will probably try to woo her if she see's the light of day.

Side note: This rule does not exempt: Turian, Krogan, Drell or Hanar."

I think, whether they had sex or not, is entirely up to the viewer.

Hated the point allocation system for ME2, since it meant you could only max out three powers for squadmates, and only in a very particular pattern. I didn't want Tali to have AI Hacking, I wanted her to have Attack Drone and Level 4 Energy Drain.

Her default weapon was the shotgun. If only there was an easier way of getting her to flank the enemy without putting the priority of flanking over cover.

Come to think of it, why do the enemies flank so much better than my own squadmates?

I was thinking the other day of just how well the Tali LI storyline was written. It really was a very walking-on-egg-shells kind of situation, requiring some very clever development. The writers had to be sooooo careful because of the immune system thing. Since Tali's life is actually endangered, she has to be the one to initiate the entire romance, because if there's even a chance that it might look like Shepard was pressuring her into anything, he would have looked like a complete D-bag, and the whole romance would have been tainted. As it is, they struck what is, in my opinion, the perfect balance: Tali nervously leads, Shepard reassuringly follows.

She doesn't say exactly that.. As far as I can remember she says she locked a section of her suit so the infection wouldn't spread while she treated the wound. Or something like that..

Okay, I've reached the point where I'm explaining a joke which proves it was a horrible joke on my part. So I must apologize.

Just about everyone is happy with the romance.

I'd say pulling that off is plain amazing.
