Tali: Shepard? Is...Is that you? Your Alive?
I can work with this.
---
"You two, back to the Kodiak. I want a moment alone."
Looking at eachother hesitantly, Miranda and Jacob slowly nodded and turned, walking back to the landing zone without the Commander. Miranda watched Shepard out of the corner of her eye as she left, clearly uncomfortable with the Commander not being under her vigilant gaze. As the pair rounded the corner, Shepard walked back to the small spaceport where the quarians had landed. The wounded and the dead had already been loaded onto the shuttle.
"I thought you were leaving." Tali's voice was neutral as she fastened the buckles to secure Veetor to his chair for lift off.
"Geth space?" Shepard's voice was laced with concern.
"I'm sorry Shepard. Cerberus can't be trusted." Tali wasn't looking at him, apparently triple checking Veetor's belts.
"Miranda and Jacob are gone." Shepard's voice was soft. "It's just us."
Tali stopped fidgeting with the buckle and turned to face Shepard. "You're Cerberus now, too." Clearly the initial shock of discovering her old captain was still alive was wearing off. Shepard sensed a taste of bitterness. He hung his head low.
"I'm sorry Tali. I just woke up this morning to find out I've been medically dead for two years. It's been a lot to take in."
Tali fidgeted with her hands. "I know. It's just..." She shook her head slowly. "... I can't tell you. I'll join you if I get through my next assignment."
Shepard crossed his arms. "In geth space. Tali, you know how dangerous that is. Let me come with you. I can help."
Tali gazed into Shepard's eyes for a moment, before tracing them over his fresh scars, glowing faintly in the darkness.
"I'm sorry Shepard. Not this time. I'm still getting used to the fact that you're even alive. If I find anything that can help you, I'll send a message." Tali turned and walked towards the cockpit. "Be careful out there Shepard. Keelah Se'lai."
Shepard stood frozen as the doors to the shuttle closed. It was fair. Tali had spent two years thinking he was dead. Expecting her to join him after finding out otherwise, that he was working with a terrorist group that had apparently attacked her people, was childish. Maybe she was angry with him. Tali had never struck him as passive aggressive, but the fact remained, a lot had changed in the past two years.
Shutting him out completely to go on a high risk mission however, wasn't sitting right with Shepard at all. Pulling out a small device, Shepard turned it on, high powered magnets locking it onto the hull of the ship. A tracking beacon, useful for his investigations as a spectre. Cerberus had done their homework at least. They knew what he liked. As soon as Tali made it to her next destination, the beacon would send a signal through the FTL array, alerting him to her location via his omni-tool.
The shuttle took off, fading away into the hollow night. Turning to walk back to his own transport, the deft moaning of the wind was almost enough to mask a faint whisper.
"Keelah Se'lai, Tali."

Not much on D'awww, but something a bit more bittersweet. This is how I imagined Cerberus, and Shepard, found out where Tali was on Haestrom.

She really should have had a line to say here about peaceful surroundings at least
Tali: Shepard, I haven't had a shower in years, and those new antibiotics Mordin gave me really have a kick in them. Do you mind if I'd take a long shower under that beautiful waterfall, while you boys play cowboys?
Zaeed: That Vido was... what?
Shepard: ... Sorry, old chump, but you're on your own now. I'm staying here. Good luck! *runs after Tali*
Like that?
...
Yeah, that would work. I bet Shepard could use a shower too. That armor and that sun probably equals massive amounts of sweat.
Well, he can use that as an excuse to join Tali's shower party.

Although Tali takes quite coolly the fact, that Shep woke up just in the morning, that it wasn't any trick. Of course this can be put on her initial shock, so scratch that.

Exactly. After the initial shock wears off, the fact that he's working for Cerberus, that he's still alive, it's a lot to take in. I imagine she wouldn't know what to be thinking.

Yeah, we can't. But little bit sadness here and there makes the next happy fic much more better.

I also think it kinda sets up Haestrom.
"What are you doing in the middle of geth space!?"
"It means a lot to hear your voice."
She clearly didnt' tell him where she was going. And the fact that he showed up for her, I think, may have done a lot to mend any broken bridges. She's clearly still hostile to Cerberus, but at least now she knows Shepard really is back, and is doing the best he can to help her.

Well, Cerberus tracked her down, but she doesn't need to know that. Shepard can take all the credits for finding her. It's better that way.

Sorry, buy I always found that hard to believe, how TIM could track her down to the exact planet.

One of the reasons I negated his All Powerful, All Knowing persona. Just too unbelievable and much too typical of the villian to have all the answers.Thelacan wrote...

Maybe a patrol somewhere (maybe Alliance) spotted their ship heading for that system, and they reported it, Cerberus intercepted their transmission, and based on that they were able to pinpoint to which system the ship was going. Then it's just a matter of logical choice.Thelacan wrote...
