Not the thread, just in terms of what everyone else thought. I didn't think Tali was oversexed at all, but clearly she was in some way to generate the sorts of responses found here.

Perhaps instead of "characters," I should have inserted "my favorite characters". Yeah, when I first saw Miranda and Jack, the first thing I thought was "Put on some goddamn clothes..." And some of it is just that certain other games are so much worse about sexual character design that Mass Effect seems more subtle.

Oh, I see.  Well, different strokes for different folks.

It is pretty funny that you have to earn Jack's undying loyalty before she'll put on a shirt.

Just about the only motivation to get that thing over with...it's not one of the better loyalty missions, in my opinion. The best in my opinion are Mordin's, Garrus', Tali's, and perhaps Grunt's (simple, but melee-only guys are fun to fight).

EDIT: Damn, top post and I don't have one Tali-related image in my folders.

Really? I love Tali for her personality, first and formost. I dont' really care what she looks like. She could look like Garrus, and I'd still romance her.

But that isn't to say I don't find her drop dead sexy.

Pretty much this.

The fact she happens to be the sexiest thing ever birthed from the quarian gene pool is a bonus as far as I'm concerned.

... Kind of a big bonus, but still.

I've yet to see anyone really who didn't love Tali primarily for her personality.  Its just so engaging and attractive, and the voice doesn't hurt adding to her cuteness factor

I thought Mass Effect 2 did a pretty good job of NOT oversexing its characters, but then I saw this thread. :/

Her visor color was better in ME1 too.

Wait.  How did this thread oversex characters in ME2?

Edit:  Also, please investigate.

My theory? Someone at Bioware has a thing for BDSM, and as most gamers are inherently exposed to various subcultures via the internet they often frequent, most are very receptive to that kind of look, even if only on a subconscious level. This results in an unnoticed sexual attraction to what we do see, the suit. Similar to how a person can gain a fetish or fear by witnessing or experiencing something as a child and carry that for life, so can people exposed to various sub-cultures develop an innate "taste" for certain sexual cues, such as formfitting black rubber suits and belts and straps.

Or, you know, it could be that she's simply a cool character with a nice body and people dig that.

One of the two.

Pretty funny. You expect Tali and Wrex to be the whiniest characters in Mass Effect (both are watching their races slowly dying) and they hardly ever bring it up.

Tali brings up the Fleet's situation quite a bit in ME1.  It's just not done in a whiny way.

The entire galaxy is facing destruction.
I think that takes priority.

In fairness, though, when they do bring it up, it's usually a doozy.  Wrex can get killed for whining about it.

Discuss. I like the overall image and idea of her in a robe like that. Not too fond of the hair, but it still looks pretty good.

EDIT: Fixed

Aside from the fact I have no way of knowing that this is Tali... I'm reminded of the Other Mother from Coraline... and that freaks me out...

There are things about it I do like; mostly the dialogue the other squadmates have RE: Jack's childhood situation.  Tali's concern about the conditions the children faced is endearingly motherly, and most surprising Zaeed (!!!) is just plain horrified by what he sees.

Zaeed is that guy who will charge a krogan, grab him by the nostrils, pull him to the ground, and beat the **** out of him with his bare hands.

Then, when nobody is looking, he plays peekabo with Raela.

Zaeed is just that freaking awesome.

I'm a huge voice-acting nerd and the fact Tali's is so talented is a huge factor in why I like her so much (same with Mordin and Wrex)

Remember that discussion a while back about "what if the characters' races were all switched around and Garrus was a quarian?"

I recall the upshot being something like "well, guess we'd be fantasizing about a turian, then."

I could deal with that.

I'm practically gay for Garrus anyway.

In fact, that's the only flaw I see in Tali's loyalty mission: no squadmate other than Legion (that I know of) has dialogue in it.

The extra dialogue is usually kind of revealing about the other squaddie.

I'm under the impression Garrus is a bro like that.

He chills in the back with his rifle while his friends have their big emotional moment, watching for geth.

Definately.

Garrus knows Shepard and Tali have a thing going. He's just gonna be the wingman and let Shep be the knight in shining armor. He'll go offer Tali his sympathy when they get back to the ship.

He's who I always take.  Doesn't hurt that he's one of the few with what actually looks like an airtight suit.

(Christ, Jack, I know we'll never get you into a spacesuit, but could you at least put on a shirt for the trial?  This is serious!)

I...dun has Zaeed/Cerberus Network. D:

Anyway, I do think that mission has a very unique setting, it just felt like there was hardly any motivation to get it done. At least other loyalty missions, such as Miranda's, Tali's, Legion's, and Mordin's give you good reason to help them. Jack just wants to blow things up.
