Excuse me.

I now feel the need to bang mye head against a wall.

ALL life is based on evolution. It would be the same on another planet, unless the life there was so utterly different and far removed from ours, but at that point, I'd be hard pressed to even call it life.

New topic. Before I get a migraine.

How about the difficulties of taking Quarians out to dinner, and the possiblity of finding a food digestable to both species, even if one gets no nutritional value from it.

Na  lets stick to some thing does not  make Rip bang his head into  wall Like Tali in jeans or  something.

I blame Rip for talking about alien hymens..

Talking about silk robes, though... We need a Alt Appearance Pack for Tali!

I support quarians in trenchoats. Not that farfetched, as some of their early concepts had them in trench coats.

Also, STEAM PUNK TALI!

Am I the only one to immediately think of Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason upon seeing that?

And this thread has once again fallen to a steady descent into madness. Well, the first 15 pages were alright.

I'm sorry, you're not allowed in this thread without including the twenty paragraph rant about your unhealthy obsession with Tali. This thread is serious business now.

I don't think it would be that difficult. Quarians can eat turian food, provided it's sterilized.

Could a Human digest Turian food?

I'm pretty sure it's like poison to humans.

Any protein would pass right through the system most like. I'm not going to insist it's going to kill them, though. Peanuts could kill you.

It depends. Some foods will do nothing at all. Some will make a human sick. If they have a severe enough reaction, they'll go into shock and could die.

I'm really getting tired of being the thread doctor...

We're not concerned about gaining nutritional value from the food, merely whether the Human, Shepard, could eat the same dinner as the Quarian, Tali, for the sake of keeping it traditional and not making her feel excluded.

Mordin warns about the dangers of ingesting...do not injest....on another note the Asari Bartender Says that we should eat the nuts for Turiand because it will give you cramps. IIRC. So most likely it's highly dependent on howmuch it is different from our nature equivalents here on Earth.

Depends on what you're eating. The dextro-amino acid portion of it would likely have no taste at all.

See, I just think someone at Bioware read about chirality of some medications and thought that applied to proteins. The reaction probably runs the gamut from not at all to anaphylactic shock.

Most accurate perdiction i think. Its not the actual DNA that would hurt you, its the protiens and chemical composition of the food being ingested.

Depends.  If the food does not have any dextro protein in it, it could be digested just fine.  After all, certain types of candies, as well as most sugar based products, could be consumed by both.  It would likely be a little too far into the "sweet" center of a human's taste buds.

Also begs the question: Would compatible foods likely be either too bland or bitter to dextro based species?

Any cites I could get up to speed with?

I would think foods would get broken down by the acid in the stomach.

And I wonder - just what human foods could a Quarian consume?

It depends. Turian candy could be very bitter to us, same with our candy to them.

I think she's probably used to the fact that she has to have a different type of food from the rest. I doubt she would really feel all that excluded.

Probably very little. Quarians have accute allergic reactions to almost forign substance.

Read a medical journal. Look up Allergic reactions.

They would. How your immune system reacts to material that can't be processed, however...

Any, provided they don't have a reaction to it.

Possibly.  Most of the real wourld dextro freindly materials we would recognize are actually tasted as "sweet" to our tastebuds iirc.  So who knows.
