To me the Redcliffe decision in Dragon Age was the ultimate cop out. you could save both people with absolutely no consequences. the tali trial wasn't like that.

HA!  Too true.  I thought for sure there was an actual time limit since it was like I was supposed to hurry to the Circle Tower or whatever.  Nope!

Oh, and you know what, just to show I'm being intellectually honest here, I think that the ULB/LLR options when you don't talk to the admirals are pretty weak.

Edit:  Eloquent and touching, but I dunno if they'd really be sufficient to get her off the hook.

Agreed.

to be fair though she obviously prefers this to giving them the data. I mean what if ULB or LLR didnt have the omnipotence that is seems to what would you do then?

Grit my teeth and get her exonerated via the rally the crowd option.

agreed did ULB the other day to see what people were talking about, initialy I was like d'aw thats sweet, then I relised he gave absolutely no plausible defence and there was virtually no way it would have worked.

You know, I thought it was funny the first time I read it, but it's really just not.

Necrophilia just isn't funny.

Exiling Tali just to make sure she has to stay with you is like alienating someone from their family so they have to move in with you.

It's selfish, cruel and not very loving. It's not malicious but it's immature.

I would argue that is malicious by virtue of being purposefully selfish and cruel , but that's just me.

to be fair though she obviously prefers this to giving them the data. I mean what if ULB or LLR didnt have the omnipotence that is seems to what would you do then?

Flip them the bird.

It's worked well for me in the past.

lol, doubt that will keep her from getting exiled.

It's like the "Chewbacca defense" of the ME world.

I think you're taking it the wrong way... I felt like the persuades (and rally the crowd) options were cop outs, and it would have been a lot better of a choice if it was either Tali gets exiled or Shepard presents the evidence. I'm not considering it just so "she stays with me".

They're not cop outs as much as they're more complicated than most people realize.  Upper left blue doesn't prove Tali is innocent, it makes it not worth it for the admirals to exile her.  Korris isn't a heartless bastard, just close.  He will only ruin Tali's life if it will benefit him in some way.  After Shep points out all of the things about Tali, and the admiral's intentions, exiling her won't accomplish anything, so he lets her go.

Its brilliant when you think about it.  You can't prove she's innocent, but you can kill the scapegoat.

Yeah, that makes sense. (no sarcasm intended if it came across that way.)

Do you consider all ULB/LLR dialogue choices to be cop-outs?  Because that's what it seems like from your definition here.

No.

Then is the problem that the situation was just too neatly resolved?  I'd like to explore exactly what makes those three options cop-outs.

I guess I just wanted to think the admiralty board was more headstrong than that, like a lot of politicians.

That French ****: Connor will not stay passive forever...

Aedan: ****.

*Run to the Circle Tower.*

That Douchebag Templar Leader: We've lost control of the tower...

Aedan: ****.

*Run back to Redcliffe after saving the mages.*

The Bannhammer: Nothing bad happened!

Aedan: ...What?

I have a feeling the Migrant Fleet is going to fragment in Mass Effect 3 when Xen announces her plan anyway.

Gentlemen! Took my leave to beat Starcraft 2, my God it's epic, like, damn. However, Mass Effect I still prefer in terms of awesomeness.

So, what be the Talithread up to, tonight?

The only one there doing any thinking at all is Koris.  I almost guarantee Han votes to Tali every time.  Daro votes for the lulz, since she doesn't care one way or the other.

But Koris?  He's the only one who actually takes any time thinking about his vote.  He's the only one who has to be swayed, I believe.

Maybe. Or you have to take her down before she can do any real damage.

I have a new topic for all us all to discuss.

Let's say the ultimate happy ending for Tali fans is available. You can romance her, live, even go off to the homeworld.

But you have to enslave _all_ the geth and use the virus to make them all Quarian pets against their wills, or kill them.

Essentially, genocide or mind slavery...so you can have a happy ending with Tali.

It may not seem like a big deal in the game, but in real life, I couldn't live with myself if I annihilated an entire people so I could be with one person.

It won't need to when someone comes along and pops some lead into her cranium/talks her out of it.

It depends if you care about the geth.

I, for one, am fully willing to throw wave after wave of them at the Reapers until they are extinct.

basically the same thing though either of the three options does not give any evidence to her innocence but are testaments to her character, her character was never on trial but the potential for her to have been criminally negligent.

I seriously think we're going to have to take Xen down in ME3, if your paragon.

If you're renegade, you might be able to side with her.

I think the alternate paragon speech (without talking to the Admirals) is just so sweet.
