Again. I don't give a flying ****. I just want to play a game, not jerk around with texture files and all that.

To each their own I suppose. The last 'game' console I owned was an Atari 2600 (bought brand new with my hard earned cash!) I prefer a computer but others don't.
but saying that i like strategy games on pc...like Rome: Total War...that i can deal with...

thoughts on the quarians intentions by networking the geth? why didn't they make each one "self contained"?

I always assumed Tali or Wrex was always driving the Normandy. It would explain how ****ty it controlled.
Does Tali=Bad Driving arise from her being female?
....or her three fingers?
....or because she is lacking peripheral vision?
....or because she has never needed to drive on land, cuz she was always on starships?
That probably makes her one of the worst drivers in the galaxy. Good thing the extra tech experience might mask some of it, being Quarian and all.
...Could have made a really bad pun there...

Shepard: Alright Tali, out of the driver's seat.
Tali: B-but....
Shepard: OUT.

More cost effective. Less local hardware and networked means interchangable software, multi use tools is my guess.Kalashnikov wrote...

interchangable software? considering the quarians are master engineers im pretty sure updating software on each individual geth (which acted as servants, attatched to a quarian or a family) wouldn't be that big of a deal

Networking of devices means that each unit can communicate its location, status, and capabilities to the entire network. Tasks can be assigned to the optimal unit. In addition, units in need of maintenance can advertise that status, and corrective action taken.
Right here, right now networking of computers, cars, and appliances is the next big thing. It would be more surprising if the Quarians hadn't networked the geth.

It's far cheaper to design alot of systems with the abilities of a xbox and let the network update, correct and change out required data then everyone getting the top of the line, do it all, OMG computers. We use the same ideas today.Kalashnikov wrote...

Also, you don't have to change disks all the time. PC is clearly superior in every way
Did I say something that suggested the opposite? No.
Oh, I have to lift my ass to change discs. TWICE. It might hurt. Better to stay away completely.

its extremely risky though, im surprised the quarians never considered the possibility of the geth becoming self-aware (which of course subsequently resulted in the partial extinction of their race and exile onto the flotilla0
How often do we consider the possibility that our own expert systems just might cross the line?
Take a look at what DARPA is up to - having vehicles cross miles of open country with NO pre-programmed route, crossing obstacles, and with no human interference is rather interesting in that light, is it not?

but things like that have no chance of becoming self aware, as they are not true artifical intelligence, its more of an automaton

Ah yes...the good old days. Nothing like getting stuck in the Mako in some random planet....
Anyway, any one ever walked around Zakera Ward in Citadel w/ Tali while pulling discounts from store? The electronic store run by a Salarian in 26 gave her a very-VERY cute response. The Paragon option lets Shepard comment how he uses electronics in his line of work, and how many doesn't know where the ship turns and stuff.
And Tali? She just nods away in agreement.
