All the LIs in the game have their moments.

Except Jacob. Seriously, porn stars have more dignity and better lines than him.
Besides, my priiize was Tali and there's no better on than that.

But, seriously, how could any dislike Tali's romance? It was so adorable! I was even sure I'd romance Miranda prior to the knowledge that Tali was in the game... and 5 playthroughs later and it's been Tali every time.

And I hate Garrus. Nothing's universal. For most of the LIs, including Tali, the actual romances don't really work for me and I prefer non-canon ships.

you hate Garrus because his a potentiel LI?

that sounds wrong and illogikal.

No. Garrus' actual romance is okay, nucg better than Jacob's. My hatred has more to do with the fact that his issues with Sidonis are way too close to his issues with Saleon. I Paragon'd him in ME and my choices didn't matter. I also have a dislike for "cool" for his own sake and for the fact that he's cast as the eternal sidekick. He failed as Archangel.

Garrus and Tali (in the original Mass Effect) are proof you can make a character unbelievably popular with just a smooth, sexy voice.

Nope, made a bookmark of it.
Plus, there is teh Googlez.

Also, that's Jona's mom ("Mommy loves you very much!"), from the Alarei.
Or VGQ, or Lia.
I don't get why people think she's Shala, SHALA'S VISOR IS PURPLE, PEOPLE.

Oh sooorry Mr. Keeneye, not all of us are oggling every inch of every quarian on the Flotilla.  VGQ is arguably WORSE for how dumb she is. Almost more annoying than Xen.

Remember the butt-hurt when the majority of the Tali thread voted for Jack in that one poll? People take their
virtual romances a wee bit too seriously here sometimes.

Exactly, people think Talimancers take Tali too seriously, when the Miranda fans just exploded because god-forbid should people not like her for a reason other than "she's Cerberus".

The nostalgia factor seems like as big of thing as any.  I agree with a lot of the negative things stated about Garrus in the last page or so, and he's still top 5 for me, just because he's been there since the beginning.

That said, the voice doesn't hurt at all, at least for Tali

No romance should be a "basebreaker" as long as you aren't trolling about it. I asked this thread how they go about their non-Tali romance playthroughs, and I got like 1 serious answer.

My conversations with Tali progress pretty much in a paragon fashion. I haven't had a playthrough where one of the persuasion options wasn't available to resolve her conflict with Legion.

Couple things I've done that are possibly far removed from the norm in this thread.

1) Tali is usually the last squadmate recruited. This is because I hate being interrupted in the middle of the missions on Illium to go to the Collector Ship. With the Locust available so early on, I don't much miss the lack of the Tempest for most of the game.
2) I don't hug Tali when she finds her father and pretty much go with the neutral options until it's time to move on. This is very much a projection of my own self into the game. And no, nobody in real life thinks I'm an unfeeling git just because I don't hug them.

Things I've done that might make people of this thread's blood boil, but I don't care.

1) Present the evidence to the Admiralty Board.
2) Get Tali killed during the Suicide Mission.

Things I've been doing since ME1.

1) Argue with Tali over the Quarian/Geth situation.

That's true, though I did find Tali's voice to be a bit nasaly in ME1.

Thankfully they became popular enough to give them more development in ME2, and a whole lot at that.

Sroka sounded like she was having a lot of problems trying to maintain Tali's accent in Mass Effect.

I've spent hours just browsing through .pcc's and modifying my Coalesced.ini, 'tis fun. :)
Additionally, I recently went through the Migrant Fleet to make this vid (and another time to make this one, both per request of this thread), the vorcha's ass line is not something you forget easily.

Besides, dem hipz, they are hypnotising.

Yeah, I thought that ME1 Tali's voice was a little loud and squeaky from time to time.

In ME2? Perfect. Right from the start when I first saw her, I thought her voice was so smooth.Posted Image

it's more a master and pupil relesanship Shepard and Garrus has.

Garrus did not fail because he's a bad leader simple because he was betrayed like Shepard was at one point.

Garrus single handedly hold off 3 merc bands out of his hideout for over a day thats as cool as it can get.

Most of us don't disagree with that. Tali needs to be shown that the Geth/Quarian situation isn't one sided. The Quarians are just as much to blame for their current predicament as the Geth are.

I did love her voice in ME1, though I did feel that Liz Sroka improved a lot in the sequel.

Tali reminds me of me, perhaps too much. I have been unable to actually complete her romance as opposed to watching it on Youtube. Dredges up memories of awkward crushes I'd rather forget. I like her better as a friend. Please don't eat me.

Yeah. She pronounced "Admiralty Board" in a pretty funny way, compared to how she says it in ME2.

I don't think Sroka really got that much direction in Mass Effect other than "sound young and foreign" they didn't really expect Tali to get that popular afterall.

Also, the second half of the game, she just drops the thick accent she keeps putting on words with an 'r' (like Saren), fairly sure she just got tired of it. :?

That's like arguing with a Jew about the severity of the Holocaust.

I had said exactly this at one point, that Tali's romance reminds me of a time in my life that I'd rather not remember. Young love, first love, idealistic love. Doesn't last...

It was probably really tiring trying to sound so young (if they didn't pitch-shift her voice later) and trying to do the accent. I wouldn't be surprised if she lost her voice at least once.

The way Tali speaks in Mass Effect 2 is probably a lot more closer to her real voice and probably more comfortable to maintain.

True. At least they gave her a "Keelah" moment. She did that pretty well.

Ah yes, but you are Shepard, you can make sure it does last. ;) (Or whether you ditch her for the next best thing and crush her very heart and soul, it's all up to you)
