I have thrown the thread into chaos.
So, I wonder what Tali was thinking after Shep said he liked her?

Keelah, I can't believe I said that.  Now he's going to say we're friends, and it...will...be...o_O Did he just...what...I..."Really?  Well, good then"...Something went right in my life?  YESSSSSS!

I bought ME2 because I liked the first game. Unfortunately they did not make the Reapers interesting - in fact, they made them hilarious (all thanks to my friend Harbinger), nor did they make Shepard interesting, so I can't say I'd buy the third game if my favorite characters are universally absent.

Well, from a purely objective POV, I did see Mass Effect 2 as "Tali' Zorah 2, The Tali Tali Tali"

Then again, she was the real reason I bought the game, so maybe it was just me...

Her being romanceable was definitely the reason I got ME2 the first day it came out.  I probably still would have gotten it eventually if she wasn't considering I liked ME1, and I knew Tali was at least in the game.  That's shifted a little now though.  The awesome atmosphere that was in ME1 was gone now, the reapers don't do anything for me as bad guys, and the whole unite the galaxy to fight off an unstoppable evil is cliche, not to mention the gameplay is nothing special.  I want to see how the characters' stories play out above all else, Tali most of all.

I barely knew who Tali was when I bought Mass Effect.

I bought it for Wrex.

I bought ME and ME2 because, hey, Bioware game. Didn't particularly care for ME. Love ME2 much more, even as I'm aware it's a flawed game.

I was pretty disapointed in Mass Effect as well. A lot of it was pretty tedious to play through (Noveria being the worst part) and I can barely bring myself to replay it.

But I still like to get a team of Ashley, Shepard, and Tali and pretend they are the Charlie's angels.

I bought it because I had some money over, and I was bored.

Turned out to be one of my best decisions I've made in quite a while.Posted Image

Hype backlash is funny, Garrus would go from most well liked into Tali's position as widely polarizing if Tali was less popular.  Its just so cool to hate what other people like :wizard:

I think it's better to like what other people hate. That way, I can ignore them. Has worked pretty well thus far.

I get yelled at a lot for liking Jacob and Jack because "one's boring" and the other is "some ugly bald chick"

what people the jack is ugly those fools.  Jack not ugly she is pretty in a rather hard kind of way and Jacob just deals with his  **** so there is not that much drama with him.  I like all the  female characters in ME 2I I should finish my tribute story to them soon too.

Honestly  I like all the characters of the ME 2 and want them to all return  I want to see the Normandy work much like Serenity  in crew dynamics.

I was anticipating the hell out of ME2, mostly because I loved the first game. And I was enjoying it thoroughly when ME2 came out. Then I found out that Tali was a love interest (on my fist play-through, I almost missed her - I didn't talk to Kelly, ever), the awesomeness factor ramped from 10 to 11.

Tali being romance-able is great, but not the reason I bought or play through the game.

I bought the first game because of the moral choices you could have. Did not care about the romances really - the first time through I didn't even have one. The second time I romanced Liara for the novelty, but wasn't impressed. I was really hoping that we'd learn more about the Reapers in ME2 and they'd become more intriguing, but they just became a joke to me really.

As a console gamer since 1986, I would state only that ME is fast paced compared to the games I am used to.  I could not dissagree more emphatically with you.

True as much  I as like ME and ME 2  I still think Persona 3 and Persona 4 have a better  social system and get you more engaged with characters than both games.   BW for some reason tends to want to rush the relationship to save time on game play.

Jack is very pretty. Unfortunately, she reminds me of Viconia and suffers by comparison while Tali is a much improved Aerie.

nitefyre410, did you enjoy the story btw?

In ME1, I respected the Reapers as that unknown threat that's probably going to kick in my backdoor when I least expects it.

That respect was shot down when I fought Harbinger on Horizon. How? He doesn't know when to just shut the f**k up.

Sovereign had one speech, and that's all it took for me to be interested in them.

So I've heard on the DA2 forum. We are knuckle dragging neanderthals who can only comprehend the mind numbing simplicity of Call of Duty and similarly infantile games *monocle*

I adore the Persona games myself, but that's a topic for another website.

Personally I'd like Mass Effect 3 to have the same open-world kind of options DotHack//G.U. had. After beating the final game you could literally marry any main character that wasn't either dead or part of another couple. How badass would it be for Bioware to give us that kind of freedom post-game without making it a DLC?

*looks at Bioware*

I said, "How badass would it-?"

Bioware: "We KNOW!"

I agree. The Reapers seemed to be formidable enemies in ME1. I was excited to see in ME2 how Shepard would interact with them or what we'd learn. Instead, we get the most annoying and hilarious lines from Harbinger. Sovereign would be ashamed. Like I said, they reduced the Reapers to mustache-twirling villains, something hardly compelling, so I am only really interested in ME3 if my favorite characters are back. Fortunately I have many of them.

ME1 - Saren: "I'm not doing this for myself. Don't you see? Soveriegn will succeed. It is inevitable. My way is the only way any of us will survive.  I'm forging an alliance between us and the Reapers. Between organics and machines! And in doing so, I will save more lives than have ever existed!

ME2 - Harbinger: "LOL I OWN YOU!"

Having said that, the character depth and especially facial expressions and body animations, were 10x better in ME2. Hard to not get attached. But if Garrus is gone, then there's no reason they wouldn't cut Tali and all the rest, too. So no I couldn't buy ME3.

When you all hear that your squaddies will be reduced to cameos, ohh...the hell that will break loose. I can't wait

And what's so great about DA2 then?

I just see BW milking the cash cow.
