It's been a long day for Shepard. The Council is ignoring him. The Reapers are on the way. Bad **** done gone down up in here and the whole world world seems to be crashing down around the Normandy Crew. Cerberus are being dicks. The geth are achieving consensus about soda dispensers, and the krogan and still headbutting eachother back on Tuchanka. Just another day in the big bad universe.



But that's okay. The universe is a ****ed up place with ****ed up people and ****ed up **** happening to all the good guys. But it's not important. Not right now. Not to Shepard. Why?



Because right now, he's holding a small quarian finger between his index and thumb, gently playing with it and comparing the structure to his. Somewhere, under the sheets, a masked girl without an immune system, a family, or anything but the suit on her back to call her own giggles as her hand is accidentally tickled. Two people who have suffered, loved, and lost, share a brief moment of respite as the stars pass overhead, and human orbs stare into a violet visor that hides silver diamonds, and there is no more pain, no more suffering. There's no reaper fleet. There are no ignorant politicians. No loveless fathers or backstabbing officials. There's just two hearts, two completely seperate lines of evolution dictating the rate they pump at, how much blood is moved, and to what kinds of tissues and organs it flows into. Two aliens who decided it was worth the risk to light a small beacon amidst a sea of Darkness.



This, is Commander Shepard and Chief Engineer Zorah, and they are in love.

*Tali looks at the table in Shepard's cabin, and see's on top of it an old box with antennas sticking out of it*

Tali: ...What's that thing?

Shepard: A long time ago back on Earth, we would use radio waves to transmit music, news, and other media through out the planet...and some of the signals would transmit into space.


Tali: Oh, that sounds similar to what my people used on the home world. Before mass effect tech & FTL comms came along.

Shepard: Heh, funny how we all used about the same tech before discovering FTL, huh?

Tali: Now that you mention it, yeah, it kind of is.

*Tali then crosses her arms playfully*

Tali: You still haven't told me what we're doing out here, captain.

Shepard: *Chuckles* ...Right. You'll see, well, hear I mean.

Tali: *Raises a brow*

*Shepard turns on the old radio sitting on the table, it starts playing nothing but static as he messes with the tuning dial, but then a faint song could be heard, Shepard dials it in until it's almost perfectly clear*

Shepard: ...So, whatcha think? 

Tali: ...It's... beautiful...

*Shepard extends his right hand to Tali and smiles*

Shepard: May I have this dance?

Tali: ...of course.

*Shepard and Tali slowly dance embraced to the faded, old, but romantic song*
