so it looks like her eyes did it? I'm still not ruling out that what we see isn't a holo overlay of her eyes .... Augmented reality style

I checked google images, and while I see hyper-dialated pupils with tapetum lucidum, I do NOT see the irises reflecting that light at all.
Edited #2: Even ambient light at dusk or reflections of moonlight at midnight will show it.
For #4: Right, but it looks like the entire eye is glowing. Who's to say quarians can't have hyper-dialated pupils?

It makes little sense to have hyper-dilated pupils for normal lighting, and it makes even less sense given how she sees what we see. If her eyes were fully dialated all the time, her vision would be terrible.phonypapercut wrote...

So that's what that was
As far as the eyes projecting light onto Shep, not seeing it. Also, Ascension details a maskless quarian in a dark room not being able to be seen, which would hint against the eyes creating their own lights as well.

I'm going off on a limb now, but whatever. Assume the visor is actually opaque on the inside and what she sees is an image taken from a camera and displayed on a screen. For power saving purposes, it would make sense to have her pupils dilated to the max, then display that image as dimly as possible.JeanLuc761 wrote...

I'd say game limitation, though I've listened to that scene a lot, and just can't quite get a perfect read on her voice. I can't tell if it un-synthesizes a little or not.

Actually, I think it sounds less mechanical, but agree that there is still that sound to it. It could be that it's just a glitch with the audio in the game, or maybe the quarian voice has a similar tone to that of the turians.
