Anyone who flames Eski needs to learn that other people have other opinions. I don't agree with him but that's has opinion. It's far worse to attack people for their opinions than to disagree or criticize the opinion itself. So do that, criticize his opinion, not him.

Hello. I just recently did the Tali romance for the first time. I felt the need to come here and voice my . . . displeasure with it.

From what I've put together from the actual romance dialouges and Tali's loyalty mission I have come to the conclusion that the Tali romance is horrifying.

It feels as if Shepard (and by extension, the player) is just taking advantage of Tali's hero worship and filling in the hole left from her father's death. Seriously, the girl has the emotional mindset of an adolecent and she's latching onto the only stable thing in her life. The whole fact that Tali's dialouges in ME1 we're just her telling the player about her race and that the dialouges in ME2 were mostly shameless flirting disturbs me greatly. We never actually learn about Tali the person, just Tali the Quarian.

Now what I am seeking this threads opinion on . . . is whether or not there is more to the "romance" then learning about her people and the sex.

It probably does not help that I've always seen Tali as a daughter figure rather then a romantic partner.

- Respectfully, Eski

Well for one, thank you for respectful stating your opinion instead of marching in and yelling 'TALISUXLOL'. You were right that seeing Tali as a daughter figure doesn't help your perception of things. If you had noticed, she had been paying extra attention to Shepard during his missions in ME1. In my own opinion, it isn't hero worship. Hero worship would have been Liara in ME1 where she states that he is interesting and in the next conversation immediately wants into his pants. Tali's relationship with Shepard evolved over the course of two games and, in my opinion once again, she had feelings for him near the end of the first game but never mentioned anything because she didn't believe he would ever see her as more than just a quarian. After it more or less slipped in the second game and Shepard didn't deny her she became more open with her emotions with him. Her loyalty mission in a lot of ways disproves the hero worship notion to me as she's one of the few (if not the only) people who don't bend her will to Shepard's based on a conversation option.

I think people are forgetting that Tali's romance is the most conditional romance in Mass Effect in general. That goes directly against "hero worship." She's not worshipping Shepard, she will chew him out and call him a ****** if he does something she doesn't approve. Most people don't even realize this because they don't take renegade options.

Yeah.

And Shepard comes off as pushy in the romance, that's because you're taking the paragon options. Take the middle options. MUCH less pushy.

If anything, I felt Shepard was disturbingly pushy in the Jack romance. It was very one sided.

Really.  It's not like the world has enough pain already, we have to wallow in it.

I would make some sarcastic suggestions, but I suppose someone would decide to take the ideas and run with them.

The general idea behind a video game is to have fun, last I heard. Refining torture methodologies is not regarded as fun by most.

Say, if pain and suffering is such jolly good fun, maybe we could start a thread on terminal cancer.  With pictures.

If Tali could read some of this "material" she would surely tell the fleet to depart with all haste to get away from humans.  I couldn't say I'd blame her.  Or any other half-way intelligent species.

Pretty touching, but it was a bit too expositiony in a lot of places...  When it happened in the middle of some of the parts with Rael apologizing, it kinda jarred things...

It's late and I just wanted to finish.

Somehow this is quite funny.

Wrex  playing the roll of the Danny  Glovers Character in Lethal Weapon and Garrus taking the roll of Mel Gibson. OMG pure  comedy gold

Garrus Vakarian: Hey, look friend, let's just cut the ****. Now we both know why I was transferred. Everybody thinks I'm suicidal, in which case, I'm ****ed and nobody wants to work with me; or they think I'm faking to draw a psycho pension, in which case, I'm ****ed and nobody wants to work with me. Basically, I'm ****ed.
Urdnot Wrex: Guess what?
Garrus Vakarian[/b]: What?
Urdnot Wrex[/b]: I don't want to work with you!
Garrus Vakarian[/b]: Hey, don't.
Urdnot Wrex[/b]: Ain't got no choice! Looks like we both been ****ed!
Garrus Vakarian[/b]: Terrific.
Urdnot Wrex[/b]: God hates me. That's what it is.
Garrus Vakarian[/b]: Hate him back; it works for me.

Urdnot Wrex: I'm too old for this ****!
Garrus Vakarian: Maybe there's an opening in the Citdel Fire Department.

Actually, I think it is Shepard who kinda 'bend' to her will at the trial...depending on your selection, of course.
