jus voicing his opinion i don't like tali's romance eithier i see her as a little sister to shepard and agreeit seems like he did take advantage of her (your dads dead now lets hug!) but thats just my opinion and i'm entitled to it!
So if a close friend of yours just found their father dead, you wouldn't try to console them? Keep in mind that FemShep can offer the shoulder to cry on as well. It's just common decency.
I could see this POV from the Renegade perspective, with the "if he can't build you a house on the homeworld, I will", but not from the Paragon perspective. He tries to gently tell Tali that the dream of the homeworld may be out of reach, something that certainly would not score points if the intent was to score.

I don't believe Tali is hero worshipping Shepard at all. As I said earlier, she's actually the most independent of the squad mates.
Her and Grunt, I think.
Everyone else bends at some point.
I don't agree with the idea of a hero worship on some character.
Garrus? A student-mentor relationship. Hero worship? He DID opposed Shepard if you say 'don't' to killing Sidonis. Not to mention, getting it even with Harkin despite you telling him not to shoot him. He has his ways
Jack? Pushed you away. Faaaaaar away unless you're good enough to try to get close, then that may change.
Jacob? I see him as the 'letsbefriendsandenjoyshidandstuff' guy. He became open, disregards his formalities and sees Shepard as a friend (and not as some big goddamn hero).
Legion? I can't comment on this one. Slightly hero worship, maybe? But I'm not sure.
Samara? Is pretty much detached from the world aside from her jobs. That's what I can say about her.
Thane? Is on a constant guilt-trip up until your final conversation with him where he sees you as a friend.
and more that I want t comment but just don't bother to do so.

You were playing the straw man, Jones. Even if you disagree, it's not always appropriate to call someone any lesser than yourself. You could have responded with a more appropriate and actual response, or at the very least ignore it.Lividity Jones wrote...

Its interesting, at least to me, to look at them deeper. Fill in the grey areas, look at the motivations behind the characters. Think about what else is there besides the 3 conversations. But then again, I spend a lot of time over-analyzing things

Anyway, as for eski's charge that Shepard is just filling Rael's place in Tali's life. Well, I don't see it that way, since they knew each other for a while before he died, but if you do see it that way just remember, every major character in ME2 has daddy issues: Miranda and Jacob's loyalty missions deal with their fathers. Jack's was absent for her life, Grunt's grew him in a tank, Garrus' never supported his dream of being a spectre, etc.

I also like analyzing the characters. The thing I believe primarily to be overanalyzing is when people start making derogatory statements about the fans of the characters themselves. Then, people are taking things waaay too seriously.Phil725 wrote...

Thanks for your opinion, greateski, but I only saw the Liara romance as hero worship.
And Shepard comes off as pushy in the romance, that's because you're taking the paragon options. Take the middle options. MUCH less pushy.
I have to have agree in the terms of romance Jack is just too emotionally unstable at this point in her life to form any longing last romantic bond. What Jack needs first and for most in a friend and REAL friend. Honestly I think all the romance Tali's included where lack simply because Bioware rushed them to save time on Gameplay. Instead on having Content were you get to know the LI much like *cough* Persona3&4 *cough*
Tali's romances was sweet and it kind sneaks up on like freight train. Something that I like about the whole thing because on Haelstorm you busting ass trying to save her then you stop think "Why I'm this worked up... OH ****.. I love her."

Indeed. There's some good--no, great discussion to be had in character analysis; unfortunately, too often it spills over the other side into who is performing the analysis, and disagreements over non-canon opinions flare up. And if there's one thing I learned from forums over the last four years, it's that arguments have to be halted immediately or they spiral miles out of control.

I actually do get that rush on Haestrom. What with her wishing that Shepard was there, the hopelessness of the whole situation, and the final battle with the Colossus, it's all very natural to go with the Tali romance.
Even during her loyalty mission, you still get the rush with her. I do anyway.

My very thought on my first game; "Well damn it. Now I have even more of an incentive not to fail. I'm on my way."
Few fictional romances ever melt me like this one did.
