It would only control him if his actions went against Cerberus.

At that point, though, I would've killed Miranda in her sleep and ejected her into space. Or let Grunt eat her. Either way works,

Tali smiled underneath her visor. It certainly sounded like the Flotilla, individuals working together for the betterment of all.

Earthborn Sole Survivor all the way.

Growing up with people around you, but you're still alone. In poverty, the entire world against you. Having to rise above that. Then, Sole Survivor. Tali watching her team getting wiped out. Twice. Can sympathize with that...

I'm happy with my BG.

My  mother hell, she was probably  some strung  out junkie, my dad to my best guess was her pimp, pusher or worst.  I was  bad person back on earth, I ran with a gang , we did all sold  Red Sand, Helix,  stole, murder, prostitution - you name it we did it.   Every time you ask me, it just a remind of how bad, how broken I am. How wrong I'm for you. Reminds me how I don't deserve you.

Tali: Bosh'tet DON'T EVER SAY IT, don't ever think that ,  You are a good man.  You're not perfect,  no one is expecting you to be. Shephard: Zorie (Tali nickname)

*later, on the collector vessel, Shep and Garrus are wearing parts of exoskeletons from two Collectors hastily tied onto their armor, and are going down what appears to be a prison hall, checking each cell through a viewport*

*they move down and check the next two*

TALI (offscreen, deep voice): Nooobody knows.... the trouble I've seen...

*Garrus and Shep stare at each other*

*Shepard opens viewport, and sees Tali and Legion sitting there morosely, Tali singing)

Shepard: What you want to know? How shocked i was wen the Colony was attacked? That i had to see my parents, friends, loved ones die in the hands of Batarian slavers? The only thing good that happened to me back on time was being saved by an Alliance patrol, and the chance i had to avenge my beloved ones.

Tali: I... I'm sorry, Shepard... I didn't want to make you remember those things...

Shepard: *hugs Tali* It's ok, dear... I just wanted to say you that my life wasn't, and will never be easy. But being at your side makes everything i did be worth it...

And she felt tears coming from Shepard's face on her hood...

Tali and Shepard walked through the wards of the Citadel. It wasn't one of the wards she was familiar with, but Tali would trust her captain to never steer her wrong. All he had told her was to 'clean up, have to go meet someone.'

The section of the wards she was in currently looked to be populated mostly by asari, as well as the 'lesser' council space species. She had seen a number of volus, elcor, and even a few hanar. She was even shocked to see a few quarians! They appeared to either be working or otherwise occupied, so she did not want to interrupt them.

"Where are we going Shepard?" the engineer asked as they traveled through the wards.

"It's a surprise," the spectre replied with a grin. He wrapped an arm around her waist to guide her to a specific building.

As the pair reached up, Tali's eyes widened. The building had a flashing sign, proclaiming the business within as Pilgrim's Rest. She watched as an asari exited the building. When the door opened, familiar music poured out. She turned to her lover.

"John?"

The human smiled, and lead them inside. "Surprise, Tali."

Inside, the music had a fast beat. It made Tali bounce on her toes slightly, almost pulling her to the dance floor. She resisted, as she noticed Shepard making his way to the bar. That usually did not end well.

When she reached the bar, she saw the commander talking to the bartender. The first thing she noticed was the pendant hanging from her neck. Her people still used them, but nothing nearly that ornate. And why was an asari wearing one?!

"And this must be who you were talking about," the bartender said as Tali reached the bar. "Nice suit, daughter of the fleet. My name is Sezienna'Haro." She lifted her hand in a quarian greeting.

Without thinking, Tali returned the gesture. "Tali'Zorah vas Normandy," the engineer responded. "What's going on?"

"You didn't tell her?" the asari asked in amusement.

"Wanted it to be a surprise," Shepard responded with a grin. He turned to Tali, and gestured to the asari. "Tali, Sezienna here knows your people very well."

She nodded. "You could say that. I didn't know my father's people as well as I would have liked, but I knew a lot about dad."

"You mean?" Tali questioned, as realization dawned as to what she was seeing.

"That's right," Sezienna replied. "My father was a quarian. Decided to stay here on the Citadel when he met my mother, Goddess and Ancestors preserve them." She smiled. "He decided to open this bar as a place for quarians and some of the other overlooked peoples of the Citadel to come and relax, and feel safe."

Tali looked from one to the other, shocked. She had heard, occasionally, of quarians not returning from pilgrimage, but it was very rare. The asari must have understood her surprise.

"They had a good life together." the bartender answered the unspoken question. "Dad past away right about 50 years after the Morning War. Mom died in the Reaper attack on the Citadel 2 years ago."

"I am sorry for your loss," Tali said sincerely.

"Thanks, but it was ok. She died saving a pair of quarians that were too brave for their own good, so it was ok." She smiled. "One of them is still here, on the station. The other one left to complete his pilgrimage. Good soldier, if a bit too formal."

The bartender excused herself to go make a drink for a volus on the other end of the bar. Tali turned to the commander, who was watching her, a soft smile on his face.

"Thank you for bringing me here John," she said, a smile in her voice and on her covered face. "But why?"

His smile widened. "Well, we can't get back to the fleet very often right now," Shepard replied. "But, we seem to end up on the Citadel every month or so. I figured, If I can't bring you to the fleet, then at least a small bit of home is better than nothing, right?"

Tali lunged at her captain, wrapping him in a tight embrace. "My home's with you John," she said over the music of the bar. "But I definitely like it."

"Now," and she released all but a hand and began dragging him to the dance floor, "Let's dance."
