Council Races: asari, batarians, salarians, turians (2 votes each)
Secondary Races: drell, elcor, geth, hanar, human, krogan, quarian, volus (1 vote each)

Yes, humanity would end up "demoted". Why? For galactic unity. Batarians, from what I understand, are one of the most powerful races, and the driving force of the Terminus systems. I would like to see humanity step down, willingly, so that they non-council races can actually influence galactic politics. Based on my (incredibly simplistic numbers), the Council races can not, in this set up, simply outvote the rest of the galaxy.

It would also allay many of the worries most of the races have that humans are starting to take over the galaxy.

I... I... this is painful to read.

Shepard died for Humanity's ascension to the Council.  So did thousands aboard the human fleet at the Battle of the Citadel.

Without Shepard, a human, the Reapers would have already lopped off the Council's collective heads.  And you want to demote them?!

NEVER!

Oh, I agree that she does not really have the credentials to be an Admiral. She does not have experience leading ships and she doesn't to have leadership skills (so far as what happened with Prazza indicated, anyway). She'd be more like an icon than anything else.

However, I saw this as foreshadowing because it's said by her more than once. And her rising recognition amongst the Fleet. And her rising importance. It's kind of like Chekhov's gun - you don't say there's a gun hanging on the wall if nothing arises from it.

I thought the mention of her rising status was supposed to contrast with the crap that gets thrown at her in trial personally.  Maybe make it seem that no one is above the fleet, or maybe just that the flotilla is willing to turn on any of their people at a drop of a hat.  I'd have to hear all the lines again, along with time when they occur, but I always saw the intent of the messages to be felt in the game, not the future.

I was the same until I thought about it. Just seems like they wouldn't have her say it twice if it had no relevance in the plot. Her becoming an Admiral could be interesting character evolution for her. However there is that problem with the possibility of her being exiled.

Sounds good. I also support humanity being secondary. They've only just gotten their feet wet in the galaxy.

Agreed.  Honestly, I am surprised certain Cerberus lackeys haven't jumped on this in outrage. :P

Being pro-human does not mean being pro-Cerberus.

I like swords, too, but I don't like being stabbed.

I disagree on the whole premise of time in the galaxy affecting galactic power.  That's just an invitation for the old races to constantly hold down the newer ones and keep power for themselves.  If the humans are as strong as any other races now, and command the same amount of power and political standing, how long they've been there shouldn't matter.

Humans have just stepped onto the galactic stage. It's not time for them to assume power. Or such power.

I like the use of alphabetical ordering.

Thanks.  Also made it easier to show that there is no real bias on who was placed where.  Unity, and all that, with politics having less of an impact.  :D

Just as long as they have enough medi-gel for the Unity to work.

IIRC, the suggestions for admiralty don't happen until after she is acquitted.  Also, consider this - while all of the admirals have ships, they are also very strong personalities (Raan may be the exception to this, as too little is known about her politics, only her concern for Tali). So, it may be a 'cult of personality' effect. Besides, IIRC Rael is an admiral from the Rayya, but you also speak with the Captain of the Rayya upon starting the loyalty mission, yes? That would imply that they do not necessarily have to run the ship they are from. So she could, if this theory is correct, be an admiral and still serve on the Normandy.

Not that I'm too worried. Too much foreshadowing towards peace for some kind of movement towards peace not to occur in ME3. But the subject of foreshadowing brings me to the possibly unfortunate case that I also believe that Tali becoming an admiral was foreshadowed.

*sigh*
Trying to prepare myself for such an event.
I don't want it to happen, but. . .

I LOVES YA, TALI! DON'T LEAVE ME! :crying::crying::crying:

I mean, Shepard. 'Don't leave Shepard'. Right. Yeah.

I can see a 'campaign' so to say in ME3 that revolves around Tali. If she was exiled, I'm betting they're calling her back to the flottila for a 'unanimous vote' or 'experience from an outsider' involving the peace that is being brokered between the Geth and the Quarians. This is where Shepard play his part.

And THIS is where I assume Xen would go nutso and turn a fraction of the Geth into mindless drones, causing an outbreak between QuarianxGeth war for a brief time until Shepard and his crew stops them dead with led.

Don't mind too much if we get equal romance content to the other romances.

Why not?  They have the power, they have the population, they have the ability to protect the races not able to protect themselves.  The only reason to deny them the power is a bias that they need to serve for a certain amount of time.  They can do anything the salarians or asari can do.

If its after the trial, that just makes me think even more that its supposed to contrast with what is said when she is exiled.  I recall the captain of the Rayya in general having some pretty nasty things to say.

Technically, yes.
But that wouldn't stop her from following him...or loving him for that matter

Kidding, of course.

Hey, if you got another LI that you like, than good.

Personally I've just never found another (maleShep) love interest that I like. It's not because I want to, but simply because (for me) BioWare hasn't made be care about any of the other LIs in the way that I care for Tali.
I know it's not a universal view, and I'm fine with that, I just don't want to be screwed out of losing Tali while everyone who romanced Liara or Jack or whatever gets to keep their LI.

For your Shepard maybe. Unless you may to say that perhaps Bioware would not have such wildly different scenarios.

Tali: *Suggestive Gesture*

Shepard:  Aww... come on, Tali.  We just got back from that mission.  I don't have quarian-level endurance...

Tali:  That's an order.

Shepard: :pinched:

Aaaaaaand, this is what I was expecting.  Thousands of Turians and asari died in that battle - that point is moot.  Shepard was granted the honor of being the first human spectre, an important step and a show of belief from the council that humanity is ready for galacic politics.  However: They never should have been given a council seat.  Itw as bad writing on Bioware's part.  If you saved the council, humanity should have been given accolades, and have th council more willing to listen to them.  But allowed to join them?  No.  The galaxies political landscape was already volatile enough with humanities emergence.  So much so that one of the most powerful races in the galaxy left the galactic union - just about declaring civil war.  And upgrading the terminus systems from a group of non-unified colonies to an actual threat to galactic stability.

As we can see from ME2, even if you were ht e most Paragon that ever Paragoned, the Citadel is a powderkeg ready to ignite into true civil war.  And it is humanities fault, sad as it is to say.

A true Paragon ending in ME1 would have been for Shepard to recommend that humanity not have a seat on the council - humanity isn;t ready, and the galaxy isn't ready for such a step either.

No, but now she just has another excuse to dominate him.

And Shepard and I are okay with that.  ^_^^_^
