As for the dreath issue, here's my take.
Death for drama is cheap, and in the context of a multipart series where the player makes the choice of who they associate with (in this case LI) feels more like a punishment. Singling out the LI for the sacrificial buddy treatment makes Shep's interest the kiss of death.
This is bad game design.
Consider Virmire. Someone had to die by game design. However, the player could ensure it was not the person more important to them.
Very good point, I didn't think of that! There is always the power of choice. And yeah, death for drama does get very annoying, the only time it had any impact on me was when Aerith died in FF7, and you all know how that goes.
Sorry everyone for contributing to the whole "Tali Death" issue, I want her to live and have a happy sweet ending too, but I guess I like to expect things from all sides, and in the case that I drew up; my "bittersweet" ending, I thought that if an ending with Tali can possibly go bad, it minaswell be filled with anger going down in flames. I didn't take the "death for a good reason" thing into account, hope I didn't make anyone mad.
You aren't one of those people who still b*tch about Aerith dying years after the fact are you?
Because being bummed out for a little while after is fine but by this point it's a little pathetic.
No I'm not one of those people (thank goodness)! I was just trying to put up a further example as to what Bhudda there said about how death for the sake of drama can be weak, I agreed with him and really meant to say that after the Aerith death, yeah pretty much every "death for the sake of drama" situation is pretty much pointless, It would be pathetic if I was one of those people, considering I don't even like Final Fantasy, I just played through the 7th one time because so many people said it was "THE BEST RPG EVAH!!!" so I said why not I'll try it.
