Nope. I would agree that they need more depth.

Hence the reason for the fic's existance.

Whether or not you regard it as canon is your choice, however I think it should at least provoke some thought as to her reasoning rather than "MUAHAHAHA I AM EVIL".

I would like to discuss this further but it is off-topic. If you want I can tell you some of my views in the fanfiction thread.

I agree. I like having depth to characters, despite it not being canon.

A little embellishment shouldn't garner such emotion. How many of us have glorified our Shepard's backstory? How about the love story between characters?

It's all fun, as long as everyone remembers the fact that what the game and official codex states is the truth.

Till then, I'll throw up a fic every once in a while, and continue reading everyone elses.

I'd like to state that I am not opposed to the idea of uncaring evil. That is, "born bad" is a perfectly acceptably reason for villainy. Not everyone has to have a sob story to "explain" why they're a jerk.

And on a more monolithic scale, blind, unthinking evil on the scale of the Reapers terrifies me all the more for its incomprehensibility.

Lividity, I'm reading and quite enjoying Reckoning. I just think it's a bit over the top in what happened to Daro'Xen. Falling in love with a man who sells you to a **** house where you are raped every day is a not something I imagine actually happening to Xen.

Keep up the story though, I'm liking it.

It happens every single day in every country in the world.

Not that far-fetched.

Tali'Zorah nar Rayya has held true to her people's image.

She has stolen humanities greatest hero after she begged him for access to the Alliance's top of the line ship.

Do people even pay attention? It isn't uncomprehesible. It's explained. They do it to make babies.

Yeah, but how often do you see those people becoming powerful leaders?

Plus, once you are stuck in that life, you have almost no chance of escaping.

Yeah, that dude has to die.  Because that's a dick move.  I just hope Daro has a cool-ass speech she says as she drives the knife further and further in, a la Kill Bill.  And she need to knife fight.

"Black Mamba...hmph! I should've been motherf***ing 'Black Mamba'!"

I can see I've managed to attract your attention while you are in a truculent mood or something.

I understand that, thank you.  It doesn't explain why they do it in a fashion involving all the terror and death.  If they offered it peasefully, they'd almost certainly find takers every time.

Daro isn't like most people.

She, like Shepard, has a requisite aspect of herself that makes her capable of great things.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have a story to her.

I had to laugh at that. It's true, it's all true.

The Reapers are more hilarious than scary due to Harbinger, for me.

Personally, I see the game as just giving you an outline, and then letting each person fill in the blanks however they want.  You pick a background described in a few lines, if you want to expand that into a 50 page story, its your story.  We know that Saren was defeated, and then there was a month that we don't see before ME2.  If I want to believe that Shep and Tali got really close to admitting their feelings for each other, right before the collectors stopped them, it happened.  Nature/nurture with Xen?  Pick whichever you prefer.

Everyone's story can, and should be different for this reason.  I find it a lot less interesting when all of the facts are shoved completely down our throats, I like the grey area personally.

This is your post-modern irony talking, coupled with a safe remove from the situation.

Of course I'm removed from the situation. If we're talking about Shepard himself, (my Shepard) he is intimidated by the Reapers.

Uh...Buddha? I wrote a couple fics...care to spare some time and give them a read? I need to reach a consensus before deciding to continue.
