I wish if you hadn't romanced anyone that Tali was the person you talked to in the beginning. But I can see why they didn't do it, since they would have had to use the old model and Sroka would have had to use the old voice (which she probably hated)

I like to think that over the month between Saren's defeat and the start of ME2, Tali starts noticing that Shep keeps coming down to talk to her constantly, even though he knows she has nothing new to say, and Shep starts noticing Tali watching him when he isn't looking.  But both of their doubts about the situation keep them from actually making the move, meanwhile the sexual tension goes up, becoming obvious to everyone else on the ship.  Finally, something finally breaks the cycle of events, and just as they're about to confess their feelings, collector cock block party
