It's the same breather helmet he had in ME1. People would complain if BioWare changed it.

I think that's the point, I've never used Kaidan again after Eden Prime so I don't know what helmet he has.

I laughed my ass off when I brought him with me to the flotilla. Couldn't keep a straight face when he had that busted, slightly dark red helmet which made him look like a low budget Darth Vader cosplayer.
