I want Shepard to be able to shown as vulnerable at times. If the player choses. I don't want the Action Hero with no problems. I want to say that I'm feeling a bit down and then Tali cheers my Shepard up with a few laughs.

Kind of why I wrote Last Son...

...Except replacing "a few laughs" with "deep emotional tenderness" and "explosions".

Agreed. Allow the player (us) to answer some questions about our past.  Then you can get Tali's/any character's reaction to it, and you flesh out Shepard.  This, also, wouldn't remove the 'this is My Shepard' feeling, as everyone could choose to answer it in a different way.

Indeed.

Dragon Age did it extraordinarily well with the conversations the Warden has with Wynne.

Seeing that same approach applied here would be outstanding.

It's funny, listening to Dragon Age's latest podcast, they really try to make the point that the ME and DA teams are very seperate.  But its almost like they are afraid to use each others ideas, because they are afraid the games will become so familiar.  For example, in the podcast, the interviewer asks the DA developer what games are influencing DA2.  His answer:

"We look at the other games in our genre.  Oblivion, Fallout, Final Fantasy...." *Long Pause Here*  "...and.... Mass Effect."

Really, Bioware?  That afraid to mimic systems that work?

Shepard just needs to be made more of a person, and less of a "hero". I understand that we put ourselves into him, but as much as I love Tali, I want some more solid explanation of exactly what draws Tali to him. His being a galaxy-saving savior is just a little too shallow for the Tali I picture. I hope for some more detailed depiction of the emotional bond between them.

Shepard: I die for two years and somebody throws Gizmo into the tub...

Tali: ...What?

Shepard: I'll tell you when we get home.

No.  I liked them.  Kind of sad that they got so little development.

Did find it funny that the Collectors turned to them to spread their plague.  You would think the Collectors would have seen how incredibly stupid they are.

Lol!

That's good work, Jones.

We just need more of that Shepard in-game.

That reminds me, about a week or so ago I think I remember seeing people post their unique Shepard's background and personalities and they all seemed to follow the same general template. Would anyone happen to have saved it?

Hey. While a bit of an angst magnet, CC has done some excellent work. I thought Drifting was sad, yes, but not that bad. Honestly, he is tame compared to Liv and Rip for their work on Reckoning. Not enough posters focus on the stories he has written that are less angsty than Drifting.

When I saw my first I was all creeped the **** out. Then I saw it went down with a couple of bullets.

Then I saw the flamethrowers.

I have a healthy respect for enemies with flamethrowers.

Well, I think, it helped that CC's work was here, and known as depressing, before most of the other renowned Fanfiction now here.  At Sensations release, for example, there wasn't any Reckoning.  Or Drifting.

Or...  B...T...V...

I'm young.  I'm impressionable.  He makes smoking look cool.
