Rael'Zorah probably never showed his love to his daughter directly, but I can still picture him as the father with a shotgun in his hands when someone attempts to woo his little girl.
He showed it in that video recording at the end of the Alarei, where he strictly told the other scientists that Tali should not suffer for the consequences of his actions.

I will respectfully avoid this topic - it does pertain to my thoughts on the other conversation currently going on. However, it is highly radical, likely to be heavily disapproved of, and totally out of left field. The evidence upon which to make said theory is seriously flimsy. So I'll just leave it blank.Pacifien wrote...

Male Quarian: Hi, Tali.
Rael'Zorah: Keep walkin'.
Male Quarian: Bye, Tali.
Ooh, now I'm curious. If Rael did survive, what would he think of the union? And would Tali stand up to him?

But the Quarians (Tali too?) are highly communal. Seems like an opportunity for some great (funny?) fan fic.
And if Rael did survive, how would his committment to the fleet play off a human's individualism?

You mea 2 quarians unable to have children. Depending on the population rations for men:women, this could be a minor or a major hurdle.Phil725 wrote...
I agree with most of what you say, and I could easily see it as well. The thing that I see brought up whenever this is is the population thing on the flotilla, and its not an issue. They limit population to control growth. Having a quarian not able to have a child doesn't hurt, because they can relax the rules and let someone else have 2 to compensate.
Not that it can't be gotten around. Just that, as I stated, it would make it slightly frowned on but not outright outlawed or taboo.
Being taboo within quarian society is one potential hurdle that we have no way of knowing one way or the other as it stands now. Personally though, I agree with the whole theory of asari relaxing that view point over time though. I just don't see population needs being the cause for any of it. That seems like more of an administration problem, where they need to keep a level of vigilance to make sure things don't skew too far in one direction. I can't see it being nearly serious enough to affect every day life like that.

Well, I know next to nothing about his personality since he keept things pretty formal and by the book, so I'm not even going to touch that one.

But the discussion tends to go along the lines of that ship has sailed and female Shepard wasn't on it. I could counterargue, but I understand the sentiment enough to let it fly.

I'm always in the minority in this topic, but I think Rael would have approved of her relationship with Shep. Say what you want about his actions, but I do think he loved her, and wanted her to be happy. Seeing her like that, on top of the fact that Shep is the galaxy's number 1 geth killer, and I don't see a problem. That's not to say there wouldn't be a period where Rael took time to get around to approving, and I could see the classic no one is good enough for my daughter opinion coming up, but I don't see issues like xenophobia causing problems.

I always entertain radical notions. But I am just one person of a larger thread.uhdnrt wrote...

I agree...but I suspect he would expect his new son in law to help the flotilla.

Hate to mention it since the conversation seemed to have successfully moved on, but you think discussing Tali as a possible female love interest is a no-go? Try having that conversation in the Jack thread. Jack. If people aren't going to entertain the idea with someone who has admitted sharing a bed with a woman, it's just... the conversation just isn't going to work anywhere.

Its a topic that usually gets heated responses wherever its brought up, so its not exactly surprising. Its just something that people often feel strongly about one way or the other. People just need to be able to discuss things without getting emotional

I could see Rael rationalizing it. I mean, hey, if his daughter's gonna get a lover, it might as well be an asskicker like Shepard. Better him than someone else.

I once had a relationship cut short because I wasn't the right ethnicity for the parents' approval. They were nice, too.

And there is going to be a huge cultural gap between Shep and Tali. A communal society versus an individualistic one.
Example: My computer versus our computer.

It's hard to say really. Not sure how strong he is on that subject, but I do know that he is a man of opportunity. Tali being with a man as famed as Shepard, one that has a lot of political influence, is good to be associated with a quarian. That relationship could help quarian relations, in turn, help the fleet.Pacifien wrote...

Although, I could see him being against it for the reason of Tali not being able to have children with Shepard, of him wanting to keep the Zorah family alive.

True. We don't really know since he's dead and won't be able to flesh himself out.

Adoption could be part of that. And, even today, Earth couples who can't have children have solutions.

My parents are dead set against my sister and I dating African Americans... makes me sick...
As for Rael. I think he'd dissaprove. Being with Shepard keeps her away from the fleet, is a greater danger to her health than being with a quarian, and his letter to Shepard wasn't exactly encouraging. Rael is the kind of person who wants his kid to be happy, but only if it's the way HE wants her to be happy.
