The Council is a pretty ****ing bad idea in general. Wouldn't it just be a lot better to make a sort of galactic senate or something instead of relying on four races who may or may not care that much about your species?

Whoa, whoa, lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Even though the council did abandon the quarians they are still the most nessacary organization in the galaxy.

They provide stability and a forum for all races to voice their interest. The council is like the United Nations Security Council. They may have more power but the the other species still wield considerable power together.

You know, I think I noticed a bit of foreshadowing in BtdS

Guy: The quarians could probably evacuate us with all of their ships...but they are nowhere near here.

Choice.

Evacuate the Citadel and possibly sacrifice quarian lives, or hold them off until and have them set up fire solutions on the Reapers, and to hell with any civilian ships in the way?

I go with the latter.

Possible rescue mission in ME3?

Not sure if this has been put out there, being new here and whatnot, but possibly Kal'Reegar? I put Anderson in as the human rep, so it fits, kinda... (Even though Anderson kinda... well, you know, in Retribution)

Kal'Reegar is only a soldier, and he makes this clear himself ("I just point and shoot," "I just shoot things," etc). He has experience, but only in the military, not politically.

There is no doubt that the Migrant Fleet will play a big role in ME3.

Well I'm off for a nap. The fever broke but exhaustion has kicked me in the face. I'll return, possibly with a fic.

So, the ME1 choice with quarians substituted for humans?  Agreed, but then again, I'm a firm believer that anything done when the other choice helps against the reapers is wrong.

Surprising that nobody put forward Tali's name as a possible representative. I know we all want her back in ME3 as a squadmate, but putting that aside for a second, do you think she'd do a good job?

Honestly?

No.

Tali is a great person, and I love her to death. But she is not a leader. She's proven this in the past. She's a follower. She followed her father, then Shepard, then her father, and is now with Shepard 'til the end.

If Tali DOES join the board, it will be only to overrule the Conclave, after which she will have to resign.

No.  Politics is not Tali's game.  I really don't think she'd be good at it.

On the topic of Reeger, I know we all like soldiers going into politics to kick the asses of obstructionist bureaucrats, but I do think we need someone who can cultivate connection, win allies, etc. I don't think Kal would be able to move his agenda forward, no matter how honorable it may be. Just look at how far Anderson has gotten with the Council.

I would like to see Mordin as Councilor, he is radical but effective.

He was being VERY sarcastic.  Like 'This is what they should do, but what the heck do I know?  I'm just a soldier[/sarcasm]'

Riptide's picks for Council:

Anderson. Wrex. Legion. Xen. Rachni Queen. Biotic God (?)

Everyone else? They get an embassy.

Or a swift kick in the ass.
